peugeot 407 1.6 hdi 2005 - starting problems - eddyturnbull

i have a 407 diesel. when i try to start it hot or cold it sounds as though the battery is flat although i have just bought a new battery, new starting motor.new clutch

when you turn the ignition ther seems to be a lot of compression before it actually starts, sometimes you can here a heavy clunk and then it will start.

the car runs perfect apart from this problem, can anyone enlighten me please.

Connect a volt meter between the large terminal on your starter motor & the motor body. Crank the engine & see what the voltage is. Should be at least 10v. If not, start looking at all the battery & earth conexions.
