I used some generic baby wipes to clean some bird poo from the car and windows the other evening.
The next morning, that area of the windscreen was clear of water, so cleaned all the glass, inside and out, all of the windows again with baby wipes, and then took the car off to the self service jetwash, and then cleaned windows after with glass cleaner and kitchen roll.... Read more
I got caught in a bus lane at half 10 on a night in a 24 hour bus lane. After viewing the footage online of me being caught in the act, I basically just move round a fully stationary car, theres literally no other way to progress in that situation other than moving around it. I'm curious if I actually have a leg to stand on when I appeal or I should just pay it? Read more
If the car was stationary (Not for a traffic hold up, or allowing a pax to disembark) then it was causing an obstruction and you are legally entitled to go round that obstruction.
Including entering a bus lane? Even if the obstruction is a vehicle waiting to turn right? ...
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, and hoping that someone can help me with some advice please?
So I have an old transit van on which I have always had my own private number plate. It is off road and SORN. Now I need to scrap the van, but want to get the number plate off first, so need to apply for a V788 document. ... Read more
It’s very unlikely that the vehicle will be inspected. However , you may have to send your documents into Dvla , rather than being able to do it on line.
Thank you elekie&a/c doctor for your advice. I've been getting very worried that I will be hugely out of pocket with this. Life is tough enough anyway as I found myself jobless due to this pandemic just two weeks before the van came to end of it's life *sobs*. The reg plate is worth some decent money to me (relatively speaking) and so it will be a life-saver if I can sell it, but I can't afford to lose any money by trying this process. That's why I have been desperately seeking answers, so thank you for your advice :)
Hey everyone.

I currently own a 1.5 petrol Mondeo on a 15 plate and it has be OK so far. I have also owned the 1.8 Insignia.
I was tempted to go for another newer insignia after my head gasket went but I just didn't have it in me to risk my cash even though I had had Vauxhall since 1992. The Insignia was the one car that cost me a small fortune to keep running one way or another....
One of those "never noticed/thought about that before" things.
Recently replaced the alternator with a used one. Had a squeal after replacement, which has worsened, and the belt, driving off the crankshaft pulley to alternator and water pump, now looks badly worn, with missing teeth.... Read more
Dunno. Not sure how I'd tell, but I suppose its possible.
I could maybe take an impression of the pulley profile by pushing something into it (plasticene? chewing gum? RTV silicone? Aluminium foil?) and compare it with the belt profile....
A comment from friends over the water said that if new fuels introduced over there caused the damage suggested above, it would result in a class action against both the fuel (oil) companies and the government. It would be nice if we had the same option.

Been rolled out progressively in Europe for years. Introduced in France in 2009, I have driven thousands of miles using E10 since 2009 with no problems at all.
Hi I’m hoping someone can help me, so I had been doing my lessons up until a few months ago and I bought a car second hand to be honest I think I got ripped off but anyway I bought a black Nissan convertible reg YS06XDP it all works great it drives and the roof opens etc front left tyre just needs some air in but that’s all anyway while doing lessons I found out I’m expecting again but I’m having a very difficult and high risk pregnancy so I’ve put my lessons on hold so the car has just been sat in my drive a few weeks ago I went to go in to clean it because I thought I’d just try and sell it rather than it just being sat there but both my key fobs didn’t work I even got the metal bit out that’s inside the key but that didn’t work I tried to press the rubber bit in the handle at the same time as the key because that’s what did the trick the last time but that didn’t work so now I can’t get in the car at all I’m worried because the bloke said I need to do the roof now and then so it doesn’t cease up but I can’t get in to do it. Please can someone help me also I don’t suppose anyone knows roughly how much I could get if I sold. Thank you ?? Read more
I thought the OP said they had tried the metal key out of the fob, but it hadn't worked?
even got the metal bit out that’s inside the key but that didn’t work I tried to press the rubber bit in the handle at the same time as the key because that’s what did the trick the last time but that didn’t work so now I can’t get in the car at all...
We’ve just got rid of an Alfa Giulia that we only had for 8 months and was no end of trouble! Traded it in against a 2018 Audi A3 1.5 TFSi S-line (manual) with 26k miles on the clock.
Only had it a couple of days and it’s already concerning me… The clutch biting point is REALLY high, the pedal is almost fully up before it bites. The clutch is not heavy and there is no clutch slip in any gears. In addition there is an intermittent grinding noise which sounds exactly like when you accidentally grind the gears and this seems to occur a second or two after letting the clutch fully up after a gear change. Any ideas that I can go back to the dealer with?

Problems with the 1.5 TSi are well documented.

The front of the car looks like a wire-fence, devoid of any chrome-like finish. As for the photos of the car in this article - you would want to be "Menthol" to opt for the mint colour.

Autoglym for me because I can use it on my windscreen and it gets rid of wiper judder.
