I've passed my Toyota Verso on to son-in-law (his 17yr old Skoda Octavia estate no longer economical to keep running) and this evening taken delivery of a CR-V Hybrid.
It's my first experience (in more than 50 yr driving) of a hybrid - or for that matter an automatic - and I think there may be rather a learning curve!... Read more

I sold my Octavia VRS last week to WBAC (a relatively painless process), in preparation for ordering a lease car through work. Now, for one reason or another, the delivery is likely to be months. I'd originally borrowed a car from a friend but keeping it for months wouldn't be possible, so a stopgap car was needed.
Reading up on here about cheapy cars, I concluded the advice of SLO76, badbusdriver and others was sound and started trawling AT and Facebook marketplace. After viewing a couple of Hyundais and Toyotas that were tatty beyond belief I focused (excuse the pun) on a Ford Focus. ... Read more

I am applying for a French licence but in the meantime????
What utter ridiculous rubbish - "The move aims to make zero-emissions cars more easily-identifiable for potential initiatives like cheaper parking and free entry into clean air zones."
Like with all automated / lazy road law enforcement, those that usually obey the law (apart from the odd mistake like watching the road rather than constantly watching their speedo) and follow the rules are the only people ever likely to work with these stupid ideas.
The thousands of criminals that don't give a damn about rules or the law will of course abuse things like this - e.g. people with cloned number plates or the car is registered to a fictitious person or address.
I know it won't be long before I see a battered diesel or petrol car driving along with a green sticker on it's (probably cloned) front number plate and I bet whoever enforces the free parking or congestion charge exemption will let them get away with it because there's enough of the rest of us to pay for them!
