After driving about 10 miles my temperature guage goes into the red, if i put the heater on full the temp comes back down to 80 or 90 deg, the heater works fine, the electric fan cuts in at around 90 deg but the radiator remains cold as does the bottom hose, the top hose is hot.
I have drained and refilled the coolant but the problem still persists.
The car runs fine, no startin problems and no steam or hissing, i am a little worried that the radiator is stone cold though and as i said the bottom hose is also cold, any advice would be helpful. Read more

hi

is anyone aware what kind of relief private bus companies get for their fuel they use in their buses?

you see empty buses outside peak hours and i recall a family member telling me he got discounts, vat and tax rebates i recall - is this true and how much

coach operators, do they get similar rebates?/

Red disel - what is the average cost of that - what stops a farmer from using red disel in their X5 - i've never seen the cops pull anyone over and test their fuel but happens in ireland Read more

Paul I know that you are stimulating debate - do some internet research first, come back and put a proper proposition in a post. You manage to allege malpractice against particular groups in here from a base of knowing nothing. Research the subject first please.

My heater only blows hot air. Is it more likely to be the heater control valve or the control panel? Read more

Try a new valve these seem the norm.

A car key has snapped off in a door (unsure what car, but it's either an R reg Astra, or a Suzuki Ig.). The piece has been extracted. Is it possible to join the pieces (silver solder?)? Could a key cutter make another one (like they did for my '95 Cavalier)?

Unsure whether this should go in "Discussion" or "Technical", BTW. Read more

Hi there, the ABS light came on the dash, the diagnostic said there was a problem with the sensor on the rear n/s wheel. So I changed the sensor, I also changed the one on the other side whilst I was at it. I then re-set the ecu but the light still stays on!.....Im totally stumped, and a bit annoyed, Any ideas? Sorry to bring this up, but has anyone considered that the ABS light and even possibly the error code(s) may be caused by the old corrosion on the instrument PCB contacts problem. I had an intermittant ABS light and I cleaned the PCB solder joints with contact cleaner and its was totally fixed. My ABS seemed to work perfectly throughout this problem.

Just a thought.....

I once drove off in my MGB with the crooklock on, it is disconcerting when the steering and brakes don't work. I'd been told to lock the brake pedal rather than the clutch as you could snap off the crooklock by stamping on the clutch pedal. better at preventing theft maybe not a good idea for safety... Luckily the handbrake stopped me just short of the parked car I'd tried to steer around.
I was in my twenties at the time, no old age excuse available!

The remote central locking on my car seems to only work when it wants. Central locking is fine when I use the key in the doors.

I've re-programmed the key a few times and replaced the batteries. Mine is an old 2 button key with the little glass eye on it.

I'm pretty sure it's the fob the light does come on when I press the buttons but it doesn't tend to do anything unless I spend 10 minutes trying.

I've been in touch with ford and it's going to cost a lot to replace the fob and then even more to code it.

Has anyone got any ideas on a cheaper alternative?

That sounds about right if mines anything to go by. I?m hoping that because it?s remote central locking anyway then fitting an after market kit shouldn?t be too hard seems as all the bits are already there.

My car have strange behaviour on starting when the engine is cold. Its always fail on first attemp to start and have no problem at all at second try, just smooth and normal. I have to do this.

1. Turn the key to M (ignition) till it ready (the tripmeter already show).
2. Turn The key Off
3. Turn the key to M (ignition again), till it ready and start. Then doing just fine.

Then after the engine start and I turn it off again, and then when I try to start it again it has no problem at all, start at the first attemp.

Any Idea what is happening ??? Read more
