I'm after a Mazda 6 2.2D 163bhp TS.
In searching around the net I'm surprised that there appears to be little discussion of what people actually manage to get cars for!
Does anyone know sites where people share what they have actually managed to pay for new or nearly new cars?
If anyone has any advice on buying the mazda I'm interested in I would be very grateful.

I have a 51 plate A3 TDI. Over the last few days the indicators have suddently become intermittent, that is to say when you turn them on they either don't come on at all or they initally function and then either die or become irregular. The hazard warning lights work fine and, having read a similar post elsewhere, there is no dampness/water in the passenger footwell. Any ideas? Read more
Somewhat belatedly I thought it might help to report back that a new switch solved the problem.
Mondeo had a new windscreen in the summer, stone damage, the quickclear on the old one had a couple of inactive bands though still worked OK, first frost this morning, had to be out before 8:00, started the engine, heated front and rear screen on, we were off in less than a minute.
I have had this car over seven years though the convenience relative to a scraper startles me every autumn.
However I of course have to scrape the Clio. Now we are looking at replacing the trusty Clio, it would be verging on the criminal to do scrappage though my principals are not strong enough to stop me taking advantage of this iniquitous scheme hence we have looked at a new Fiesta which of course can be had with Quickclear.
Any views on the Fiesta?
Even Style Plus (now to be called Edge apparently) trim is good spec, elec and heated mirrors, aircon etc and Quickclear for £100.
What brokers are offering good deals on new Fiesta's and Clio's?
Thanks.

No though solar reflective screens can, our Clio has this and features a "window" in the reflective element however I am not sure that all cars that offer this as an option have this "window".
I have just been researching the Ford website and find that, for an upfront fee of £430, they will give my new KA 3 annual services and a full breakdown and recovery service all over Europe included, also for 3 years. As I am paying almost this much at the moment, just for a similar breakdown service, this seems like a very good deal. Does anybody have any thoughts on this, one way or the other, please?
There are other minor benefits such as 7 days courtesy car if they have a problem with the servicing, the breakdown includes Homestart and that sort of thing.

Good afternoon HB! I am with you; it is the ritual humiliation at airports, check-in @stupid o'clock, take off your shoes and belt, this bottle of shampoo is too big and so is the water. Endless waits for luggage and at inspection of passports, once one is at the front of a 30 minute queue - anything else we can add? Compare and contrast with Eurotunnel - 5 minute check-in, French border control cleared at Folkestone and no intrusive searches. Nobody asks me if I have packed my car myself, have a I got sharp pointy things in it. I can find plenty of nice places so see and stay in, within 4 hours of Calais. Not allowed to advertise but for an idea of what I have found for next year Google for "Chez Eileen". (Mods delete if not permitted please.)
PS - I shall go for the service/breakdown deal, it looks good value
An unmarked police car pulled my mate in on Friday on a rural road. He was acting as taxi for my wife and friends and had finished off a small mouthful of alcohol in the pub before setting off.
Given that he was 100% honest with the police they made the decision not to test him.
Is this because:-
1. They believed him and his story
2. It costs money to test people so they were thinking about the state of the public finances
3. They didn't want a test failure on their records because the more people they catch the better?
Just surprises me because I reckon most culprits would say 'I've only had one drink gov'.

The police round here don't need to do 'random' stops - all they have to do is to pull over the 1 in 10 with dodgy lights. They'd be guaranteed some success - with, at least, a pull for dodgy lights and , as a bonus, the occasional drunk/no insurance/drugs/etc etc. This approach would also have the beneficial effect of persuading folks to get their lights fixed.
2 weeks ago, my daughter and I went to the local Suzuki dealer to test drive the Swift with a view to using her V reg Ka as scrappage.
The salesman checked up with his administration department and confirmed that her car now qualified, so we haggled on price and accessories and did the deal.
Delivery was to be on the 19th October and in the meantime we gave them all the paperwork necessary for the scrappage.
The dealer also asked that we provide the insurance certificate for the new car at least 2 days before collecting the car.We duly rang the insurance company and arranged for the Ford Ka insurance to terminate on Monday the 19th at 10 am and the insurance transferred to the new Swift.
Last week, I took the certificate for the Swift down to the dealers, only to be told that the paperwork between Suzuki GB and the Government for the extended scrappage scheme had not been signed yet and so we could not collect the car on Monday as planned and that we should reinstate the Ka insurance.
Asked when the deal would go through, he could not tell us. The problem is, by going back th the insurance company and altering the insurance back to the Ka, we are being charged £50 admin fee.
Are we being unreasonable in thinking that the Suzuki dealers should pay this, after all we did everything they asked and it is not out fault he took our order for the new car a bit prematurely.
Verdicts please. Read more
Direct Line charge £17.85 if I recall correctly. Getting older, but I still do usually...
I've seen a car I like at a dealership (more a forecourt with about 20 cars for sale and little else). I have a couple of questions about the v5 on the car I am looking at:
1. The listed owner of the car on the V5 is a company (I think it was Norwich Union or Cornhill Insurance or someone like that) rather than an individual. What does this mean? Does this mean it might be owned by a finance company and hence might have outstanding debts still owing on it?
2. I checked online and the car is listed as having only one previous owner. The trader told me he had bought it about a month ago but would this not mean that the car has had two owners? I'm not clear how this works.
I think I'm worrying about nothing but any help anyone could give would be much appreciated.

Locked this one no point in having two running.
Needed rear pads for the CMax earlier in the week. A job I would normally do myself but, as I would need a piston wind back tool plus CMax adapter circa £30 - £35, I entrusted the job to my local trusted indy.
That was on Monday. As the week progressed it became obvious the brakes were binding, so I dropped the car into them this morning for them to have a look. They suggested it may have been the handbrake causing problems and would take a look. Went back at lunchtime and they said sorry, we fitted the pads incorrectly (there are three spring clips on the back of the inner pad which lip around the piston, but they weren't).
Now I could be a little miffed at their incompetance, but I'm not. Instead, I'm really impressed with their honesty. They could very easily have offered another very plausible reason, but no, they were honest. Good on them. Read more
Step forward the man who has never made a mistake. Let alone admit it. Good on them.
