my 523i has suddenly started to spew water from the rad cap when hot, so im guessing its pressurising. Could this be a dud water pump, or the dreaded head gasket? Or is there a simpler solution, like air in the system? Please help! Read more

the water also spews out without the cap on, i know it would anyway, but it seems like it isnt circulating, just boiling over, i will try a new cap anyway, cheers

hello all,
i had a leaking heater matrix and used bars which fixed the leak but still have an unbearable chemical smell coming through air flow vents on dashboard which i presume is the anti-freeze that had leaked. It smells when i use the fan on any tempereture setting and i have let the car sit with fan on and all windows and doors open hoping the smell would wear off now leak is fixed but there seems to be no difference. Is it possible that all the ducting is coated inside with the odour from the leak or will it just take a long time for it to wear off the matrix. Now winter is on the way i need to sort it...many thanks for any replies Read more

Try Forte Radiator Sealer - it's dear, but very effective at sealing a leaky Xantia matrix. a new matrix is only about £40 - take a little while to fit it though.... :-(( Mine was 'Forted' about a year / 20k ago, and no smell now. It does take a few hundred miles to seal the leak up and dry out the heater box.

Hello everyine, well I have been looking and reading on this forum for many months and have now decided to post, so a big heloo to everyone! :-)

Well I know all the stories with Mazda 6's and their problems, just like many other cars. I've had my 2003 Mazda6 diesel 1-2 years now and have different things go wrong with it, more recently my starter was not engaging or squealing on the first turn of the key, however the car would start on the second or sometimes third turn of the key. So this I had recently had fixed and so far so good!

The starter isnt the problem I havenow, but just this morning when travelling up the town I didnt have the radio on as I normally would. So while sitting at the traffic lights, engine ticking over, I could hear a feint tapping noise, with no particular rhythm just it came and went and as I moved off I coudlnt notice it. However at the next junction it was back and a littel louder, although when I moved off it went away again and when stopped for the third time it couldnt be heard at all. I drove home after doing what I went to do and in the driveway it was again very feint and only gave a few taps before stopping again. The car is driving fine and this noise may always have been there, just as I said I usually would have the radio on and may have never noticed it before due to this. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Hello everyone, well I thought I would update this post as I have now had the problem rectified for nearly £1000.

The feint tapping I was originally getting, did get louder since my original post. The last post in regards to the clutch making this sound go away when pressed to the floor, I thought was possibly something to do with the release bearing. After the noise was getting more often and louder, this even lead to a judder in the car / engine, I took it to a local mechanic. Since this they have stripped out the clutch to find the release bearing ok and the clutch plate. It turned out to be the dual mass flywheel and I was lucky I got it to him when I did. The DMF had started to shear the top of the holding bolts that attach it to the engine, this was due to a lot of play in the DMF itself.

So just incase anyone else has a similar issue with their Mazda 6, I thought I'd update my post.

Thanks,
N-I

Ok guys
This is again a kind of backwards one, in so much as i am the seller, who bought the vehicle almost 2 yrs ago, having now outgrown it, we need to sell, to release funds for a larger one, so we duly place ads in respective places, buyer contacts us and a can of worms is opened......

Prospective buyer gets Hpi check done...which i didnt bother with when i bought it as the vehicle is a conversion bought from another member on a well known forum group for these vehicles, [its not easy without naming people stick with me though] i had absolutely no reason to disbelive what my seller told me so no reason to HPI it, all mots back to 2006 were in order as was mileage on the vehicle.....we have had not one issue with it since buying it and it has undergone numerous Mot's [2] and services at main dealers...

SO firstly HPI check comes back with mileage in 2005-06 of wait for it 840k and no records since until now at 99.500k ?? befor ethe 840k however it seems correct going from 2001-2005-6 and ending at 125k all additions seems plausable withy 4k-6k each time which would be usual i would of thought, however ignoring the 840k as HPI/mileage check immediately removed that figure which according to their records meant the vehicle had covered 700k in 6 months which apart from being ridiculous was nearly impossible...

We still however have a mileage reading of 125k back in 2006-07 which is when this vehicle was being converted by a well known conversion company, i have been on to the person who sold me the vehicle, who swears by the 91k he sold me it at the old Mot's bear that out as does his receipt, i have been onto the convertor, who says not a lot, apart from it was never "the" companies vehicle but ratyher the owners fathers so never went through the company, so they would have no receipts no records rather convieniently, not withstanding the fat there was a 5 page write up about this very vehicle in a well known marque magazine stating the vehicle was the conversion companies demonstrator for sometime, and several other things in contavention of what the convertor has told me.....who, what do i do know

The sum total is that, i will effectively be now selling a vehicle with 99.500k on thye speedo, but that had done 12k back in 2006 and goodness only knows what inbetween i know i have done about 8k ish the previous owner the same ish so thats 16k plus whatever the conversion company did in it which could potentially be quite high as it was shown at several trade and marque shows assuming he did teh sam eas my seller and i have that would make it be another 24k making the mileage 150k and devaluing my vehicle by about 1/2, who do i go after the guy who sold me it, the convertor who owned the vehicle at or about the time the vehicle was quite clearly tampered with or what???

Also am i breaking any law by selling her at 99.500k and not admitting to the HPI check which i am aware of, although not instigated by myself, as my buyer has pulled out now to look elsewhere, leaving me in a quandry as to what to do now...

Any and all help appriciated please the vehicle is still actively advertised a buyer is supposed to be veiwing and potentially buying this comong weekend

I've heard and read a lot of comments that it's only the activity around scrappage that is keeping many dealerships going. Apparently many of the "prestige" dealers (Audi/BMW/Mercedes etc) who don't benefit so much from scrappage are in dire straights.

Regarding Honda - we bought a new Jazz in Sept and the salesman (who we've known for some time) told us he'd sold 4 cars that day. I noticed Honda sold 14,000 cars in Sept when they've been doing just a few thousand per month so far this year.

Does anyone have an idea of the price I should be paying for new turbo for peugeot partner 2.0 hdi. Also the haynes manual people say engine needs removing or sub-frame needs taking of. Any body any ideas. I have not started on engine yet, but am presuming (hoping ?) that the turbo has gone. The engine runs no problem but no power and blows lots smoke and oil drips out of exhaust !
