Mondeo had a new windscreen in the summer, stone damage, the quickclear on the old one had a couple of inactive bands though still worked OK, first frost this morning, had to be out before 8:00, started the engine, heated front and rear screen on, we were off in less than a minute.
I have had this car over seven years though the convenience relative to a scraper startles me every autumn.
However I of course have to scrape the Clio. Now we are looking at replacing the trusty Clio, it would be verging on the criminal to do scrappage though my principals are not strong enough to stop me taking advantage of this iniquitous scheme hence we have looked at a new Fiesta which of course can be had with Quickclear.
Any views on the Fiesta?
Even Style Plus (now to be called Edge apparently) trim is good spec, elec and heated mirrors, aircon etc and Quickclear for £100.
What brokers are offering good deals on new Fiesta's and Clio's?
Thanks.

Hope you cleared the side windows before you set off, C! ;)

i only mentioned quickclear yesterday seeing as its now getting cold up here int north
most people still have no idea what it is though in the unwashed masses

I've started using it already on the Mondeo, fantastic invention, I'll miss it on my next car but it will definitely have my winging my way back to Ford when I can afford a new Mondeo!

You'll only get it on Fords or their 'relatives' - Mazda 2 may be an alternative.
Jury is out on the quick clear on the X type. Great for what it does, but the wires do catch sunlight which can be distracting if the sun is low.

Ford Quickclear windscreens are the best thing since sliced bread. I wouldn't buy a car without one.

Does it stop dash-top sat-nav's from working?

Not from my experience in an S type.

No though solar reflective screens can, our Clio has this and features a "window" in the reflective element however I am not sure that all cars that offer this as an option have this "window".

Not sure this is entirely still the case - it's an option on the VW Passat for instance, I seem to recall reading something suggesting that the Ford patent is now 'up' (aren't they valid for 15 years or some-such) ?
With the exception of the Passat I've not come across the quicklear type screens on anything but Fords and their cousins as you say, a pity because as the OP says they're brilliant on a frosty morning - one feature we really miss from my old Mondy and SWMBOs previous Focus.
I accept that the wires are visible but their benefit outweighs their unsightliness imho. We found that however careful you are in cleaning your windscreen, stripes of wires do 'die', however Ford replaced my Mondy's screen under warrantee at 2 years old to be fair to them.

Of course if need be - though light frost only afflicts the front and rear - of course!

I have heard it is an option on some BMWs now.
I understand that Ford still own the licence though have relaxed the terms and saved money in doing also making it cost effective for others to use.
EDIT: I also heard that BMW use Ford's anti-misfuel system, or have they developed their own?

I wonder if, in return, BMW will tell Ford how to stop their cars rusting ;-)

Colt.
We've got a 5dr Colt CZ1 with a/c and paid £7500 for it. A friend of ours got a 3dr CZ1 for £5999. At those prices it's good value, but at its normal prices it's just too cheaply made - they're noisy and rattly. Even comparing it to our old Jazz, you can really tell where the money had been saved.

If you have to have a Quickclear screen replaced make sure it's a genuine spare, or at least one made by the same manufacturer. My replacement was a copy and the area of the heating wires at the sides is smaller than on the original.
