I've recently spent a couple of days in Barcelona and couldn't help but notice these things buzzing around:

tinyurl.com/yf4ctk7

I reckon they look great fun and could be tempted if they had something like a 500cc engine instead of the 50cc they've got.

Anybody know who makes them, they didn't appear to have any makers badge and the website isn't any more informative?

hi
Car suddenly quit. left it with local garage who Changed the following:

Coil pack
Leads
plugs

These had no effect at all, The mechanic said he disconnected the leads on 1 and 4 whilst running and there is no difference.

His computer apparently said feed 1 and feed 2 at coil not present. he did not give me codes. I have now left it at another garage as they told me they couldnt do much with it as it is a electrical problem.

Any suggestions...........gratefully accepted.

regards

I think ECUs can be repaired by a frim called REMAN. Much running with a misfire may wreck your catalyst, thus adding to your problems.

I have a zafira 1600 16v reg 2000 that has just broken down on me (first time in 6 yrs) the cam belt has broken and i have been advised that it is going to be very costly to repair as all the valves are bent!

Do you know if an astra mk3 engine would fit in my zafira? Ive been offered a brand new astra engine 1600 16v but dont know if it will fit?

Thanks. Read more

Doubt it by a MK3 Fiesta do you mean an Astra F? E.g the 1991-98 model?

The Astra F is also known as the Astra Mk3. Not sure where the Fiesta comes into it though? Perhaps a limited edition ;o)

Hi,

My drivers side mirror has stopped de-misting, whereas the passenger one clears really quickly.

Anyone have any advice as to what is the most probable cause ?

Thanks

Most probably the heating element in the mirror glass has failed or possibly a wire/connector has become detached .hth

Hi all

I am comtemplating buying a VW Golf S 53 plate which seems in not bad nick. However the service history documents which the independent dealer has are blank? I have had a HPI check done and the registration date (which I got from their website details on the car) has come up as an alert. I think it told me the mileage was genuine - nearly 36k

I phoned up VW head office to see if I could get some of the cars service history through them and they dont have a record of the car - they said that they should have it on their system, unless it is an import?

A couple of questions:

If the car seems decent enough (I have also had someone who knows more about cars than me check it) will it be a problem with regards to the lack of service history if I come to sell it in the future?

Also if it is an import is this also a no no with regards to a future sale?
Do you reckon I am being paranoid about all this or should I stay clear. The HPI check came up with no finance owed / or having being written off.

Thanks in advance

Hi,
Hoep somebody can help...
Just changed the rear brake pads and didn't loosen the bleed nipples before pushing the pistons back but did loosen filler cap on the fluid reservoir.
Now the brake pedal is firm at first but slowly sinks to the floor, so the brakes are not working.
Questions- Does this sound like the rubber valve in the master cylinder has been damaged or inverted, and if so how is the master cylinder accessed?
Or could it be something else?

Any help greatly appreciated- I'm posting this for my next door neighbour who really needs to get the car back on the road asap.
Thanks,
Mike. Read more

I don't usually loosen the bleed nipples before pushing the pistons back, as the fluid normally just raises the lever in the brake fluid reservoir. Never had a master cylinder fail because of it.

I would bleed the brakes first and check for leaks on the slave cylinders.

Damn that borked link! >>

It is borked because it has been posted against forum rules (no links to Times allowed). The OP said it was a DT (Telegraph) link but it isn't!
