I am looking for a good engineer that can fix my car, because after visiting vauxhall authorised dealers and service i feel i wasted my money and time.I am saying that from previous experience and problems i had with them.
Now to the point. After reprograming my cars heating in vauxhall ,the last 8 months on my dashboard appears that light with the car and the spannel tool.
I went to a private code reader, and he diagnosed that i had to change the glow plugs on my car.And i had them changed, and the relay for the glowplugs also.
He also said that there must be a fuse for the glowplugs but he wasnt sure where it was?
if anyone knows about its location please let me know.
And also if someone knows a specialist for diesel cars , vectra c would it be possible to let me know the details .I live in london.

OK, I was going to take on a Mini Cooper S though it has no aircon so I now have 2008 A4 Avant SE 2.0 TDi Multitronic lined up, any thoughts?
I think it is a 140 rather than 170, its a PD so not expecting great refinement, any views on the Multitronic gearbox?

If there are cars on the fleet available, my employer tends to make new employees take one until the end of the lease. Ending the lease early probably costs a fair bit and they'd try to avoid that.
If you had to keep the A4 until the end of the lease (so could easily be 2011 if a three year lease and when in 2008 it was delivered) it could be worse. Not a bad car to be stuck with. And again I'd not worry about the Multitronic because it is not yours to fix.
As for the A5 Sportback - pretty sure it's a 4 seater too. But as a company car driver the 180PS 2.0T is pretty good for BIK. Okay you won't get as many mpg as a diesel but you don't pay the extra 3% on value of car as you do on a diesel.
Hi
I have a deauville 650cc motorcycle. It has 25000 miles on the clock. It has a problem whereby it is very hard to engage into neutral. All other gears are ok. I have also noticed that the gear change is very stiff.
When the engine is switched off, it gets into neutral with the utmost of ease. Can anyone advice me of what this might be?
Thanks

I acquired a 1994 NTV650 with 44,000miles on clock, I noticed a similar issue with finding neutral at a standstill, I found by rolling the bike gently backwards 6/10" ( whilst sitting astride it) and selecting neutral ( from 1st) helped.
I sold it at 55,000 miles with the original brake discs pads front/rear still less than half worn.one of the best all round midweight bikes I have owned....
A Black Rat is a fairly common nickname for a road traffic policeman - the type that tend to go up and down the motorway in big cars.
It might be more of a 'police to police' term, but I just wondered where it came from?
I've certainly heard it used in the Northumbria, North Yorkshire and Durham forces.
Is it a regional thing? Or are there any other daft names for traffic officers?
Just to confuse matters, a few years ago I heard the term 'Black Dog' used to mean the same thing.
I'm sure members of the Back Room constabulary - both serving and retired - will be able to help.
By the way, the coppers I've seen called Black Rats don't appear to take it as an insult, and it's certainly not meant to be here - just a bit of fun and interest.

Swearing is not permitted on this site. Anybody surprised ? Anybody think that this is a bit of a change ? Perhaps this is new to someone ?
It was just a few asterisks
Is anybody particularly offended by the letter "s" and thinks that using "$" instead purifies the word ? Perhaps "i" bothers you and "1" is somehow cleaner and less troublesome ? Maybe "@" stands for a better ideal than "a" ??

Hi.
Its time (after a free brake check) 'apparently' to change my front discs as they are below 23mm thickness at 21mm according to one of these fast fit type places.
Ive been quoted £160 for discs and £90 for pads..........anyone know if this is high priced?

Its the big outfits that have to meet targets and performance figures. Commission as well. Hence the temptation to 'over egg the pudding'.
Heat was stuck in hot so changed the heater valve under the bonnet, now stuck in cold. Have replaced control panel and completely flushed the cooling system no joy. have also tested power to heater valve and steady 12volts. Valve opens to cold but will not switch to hot, have tried two different valves any ideas?
Car runs fine with no over heating to engine etc. Read more
also had few ka suffer with the heater control panel failing to test this get a multimeter and conect it to the twopin multiplug at the heater valve cheecking the voltage it should change as u turn the heater control. do this with the engine runing for best results. it will prob be 13 volts on hot and about 7volts on cold. in the middle of to control u will find the voltage will fluctuate fro 13-7 volts. if it doesnt change at any point then i would suspect the control panel is at fault. but do double check the valve
I am a bit confused because my brakes are making a scraping noise even though the pads were renewed 1000ish miles ago. I was told on another forum to check my discs and I have done they are smooth but the very outer bit sticks out a bit. Is this the lip which you're not supposed to have?
I am trying to work out if I need new discs or not, I have not put this in technical as I am not asking how to replace them just a very basic question in inspection.
There are lines on my discs but you can't feel them but then it sticks out at the very top so I am confused.
Is there any method of actually checking discs? Read more
Thanks :) It will be interesting to see what they have come up with since in the past 6 months I have had the following work done
1) Four new springs
2) Three new tyres
3) New pads (but suspect this is where the problem is)
4) Complete new exhaust
5) New MAF sensor [did this myself]
6) All the usual service items, air filter, plugs, oil etc
I suppose it is not in their interest to make up a load of lies as a) nobody will bother doing it on a ten year old car 2) the public will clock on.

I don't have Acrobat installed I used Foxit Reader and the site works fine.
But you have something installed which handles whatever it is the page is doing. If you have nothing to do this, then autoinstall is activated.
Wonder if anyone can help with my Grand Voyager problem - the car is in drive, but when the accelerator is pressed the engine revs but the car doesn't move. Then suddenly it may lurch forward but then stop again and the engine revs again. It reminds me of a slipping clutch on a manual.
Checked the transmission fluid level - very low. Topped it up - the noise that used to be there on engaging drive had stopped, but still revs high, moved a touch (no more than before) and suddenly the steering went stiff, like the power steering has gone.
Any ideas please? I guess the two things are connected (?) but it's the first automatic we've had and I don't know much about how they work.

Hi, I am not an expert. But I have owned the same car and that had auto box problems.
...
hi, does anyone know what can be done to question a fixed penalty charge before it is paid with the resulting 3 points? The reason I ask is that I received a letter saying that I had failed to comply with a red light. Apparently my time into the red was 0.9 seconds and my speed was 28 miles per hour, not exactly the worst of crimes. The photo they have supplied of my car is very unclear, I cannot see my registration plate or what colour the traffic lights are. Is it reasonable to ask for clearer evidence before making the dreaded payment? Also there are no signs indicating the presence of cameras on this stretch of road, although I don't know if this only applies to speed cameras. I just wondered if anyone has been in this situation. Thanks

Heh heh.
Looking under the bonnet to see what was wrong with it too.

maybe some more smoke on the exhaust , when the car is cold.
takes a bit more time to start.
