1.9 IDI Berlingo has acquired a tick tick noise. Sounds like a flint in the tyre but is proportionate to engine rather than road speed. Probably about quarter engine speed. Audible when driving with widows open but cannot replicate stationary as it seems only to be present under load.
It's going to the garage next week for a new rear exhaust box and I'll get this looked at while car is there but can anybody suggest anything more informed than my ideas above?
TIA

Thanks to those who responded.
At first the auxiliary drive was suspect as there was a possible "nick" in it. Turned out however to be the cambelt being forced out of alignment by a damaged pulley. Belt was "chattering" against crankshaft pulley and (I asked for it to be retained) it was starting to split. £700 bill for it and exhaust but I think I had a close escape.
are they just dangerous/careless?
I refer to thos fools that rarely, or never use their indicators!
In my experiencethey are usually lazy ???'s
EG, imagine you are waiting at the roundabout, how often do you see fools take the left before your entance without indicating, thus usually missing the chance to get on the roundabout.
Or the same fool cutting yu up as he/she not indicating but driving eratically and making you think they are going a different way.
The biggest, useless foolish, unedcated drivers are that the type hat fling their door open fom the inside or to get in on narow roads. However, they rarely do it wen a lorry is coming. sually this type of driver is not fuly insured/taxed/etc in my experince, in other words criminal. (Im not referrivg to the person tha akes a genuine/odd mistake)
How often do you see people like this?
BTW, yesterday, driving along the high street, a woman iv an old Honda flicked her cigarete out of the sun roof, I could have pulle her over and given er a fgood smack, but of curse this is not legal

hi will decatting my 807 cause me loads of probs? ie light on limp mode etc? thanks to anyone who replys Read more
When you say de-cat, I assume your car also has a FAP. The cat is just the rear section and I'd think you need to get rid of both to do that. There was a guy on youtube a while back /Spanish? Portugese??) who was running a 2.2 406 without but there's no details of how he did it. Yup, limp home mode, no power and more warnings than you'll know what to do with.
Still, we live in hope. (How's your programming?)
Several years ago, my father sent off his paper driving license to DVLA to upgrade it to a photocard license. However, they refuse to do this, saying he has not identified himself satisfactorily. Now, he has sent all sorts of identification, but DVLA insists on a passport. My parents don't have passports and, as they're too busy having lives to go abroad and passports cost quite a bit, they don't want to get them yet. Dad tried getting back the old license, but DVLA told him it had been destroyed. They refuse to budge an inch and, as there is no legal or constitutional requirement for born British citizens to carry passports, my father refuses to budge either. A stalemate lasting several years has ensued. Has anyone got any advice or help to offer? Read more
From this thread and others there is plenty of evidence to suggest the DVLA are normally an efficient department. I once had a guided tour of the entire building in Swansea, including sitting with some telephone operatives for a while.
The OP is deliberately not responding to questions in this thread and there has been plenty of advice. Maybe he's a bit stubborn like his dad over the licence thing ;-)
Let's hope his dad does not need to produce a licence before he realises he needs to sort this out.
In the meantime this thread is closed. If the OP emails me or one of the moderators and answer some of the questions then it can be re-opened. But there is no point asking for advice and then simply saying his dad won't budge.

Vapour hose and vapour module "frosting" with a gas smell present. The knuckle joint from the module to the hose seemes loose.
The switch inside the car on the dash has a few led's. When the petrol pump symbol is on red, it runs on petrol, but when the button is pushed, it changes to 4 green led's followed by 1 amber and 1 red one, this may mean empty?
I put £15 of LPG in yesterday but this may have leaked out by now.
When it switches over it runs for a few seconds then cuts out. Very hard to restart on petrol.
Any ideas? Read more
When i worked on lpg on forktrucks this would be either air in coolant and needs bleeding or a crack in gas unit leading to passing gas either needs a new unit or a seal kit.
Never worked on lpg on cars so would be interested to know the fault?
Hi! I'm looking at (eventually) getting either an E38 7-series or an E39 5-series (almost certainly a Touring) and I quite fancy the idea of swapping in an E65 745D engine (I love the idea of diesel V8s), but I'm a manual man and don't know if a manual gearbox exists that could handle the torque of the 745D. In fact, I don't even know if the Steptronic auto from the E38/E39 will handle the 745D and I don't know if I could somehow mate up the box from the E65 to a conventional lever as on the Steptronic 'box - I doubt you could adapt/replace the steering column to take the E65's little switch thing and, in any case, I don't like it much. Help! Read more
Well, surely using all the electronics from the donor car would make it work? Anyway, there've been plenty of other swaps done in modern times (E39 M5 suspension & mechanics into 540i Touring, E46 M3 mechanics into E30 325i)... anyway, who says you need more than a simple ECU? What if you're not bothered about having an onboard computer calculating mpg and all that? Also, surely reworking or replacing wiring looms would be doable with enough time/patience/money?
Estimate for replacement of trailing arm bushes/bearings on C15 Romahome- is there a difference? Citroen dealer in Redhill Surrey £2K- does that sound excessive?
The employee said because "we don't know what to expect, rust etc and its an unusual car"!
I'm concerned they may not have done the job before. Is there another company anyone can recommend.
