But the Fire & Rescue Services have never had it so good - at long last they get some decent cars to run around their yards before turning them into cabriolets.

1.4 is supposed to be comparatively easy to do a timing belt on. There's lots of room in there for a start.

Helo...can anyone tell me what the switch on my dashboard is that has a circle with a T in the middle and an M on the side of the circle ? It is to the right of the air con switch and the owners manual has the switch for the Hyrdactive suspension in the same place but in the manual the symbol on the switch is different with no letters, just a symbol which looks a bit like a spring. Im hoping its the hydractive but I dont want to press the switch untill i know what it does.

Many thanks for any replies Read more

I have had to replace the ECU on my 1998 bmw 523, problem is the ecu is coded to the EWS system, can I recode it my self at all? If not can it be done on a normal diagnostic or is it a specialist job?
Thanks

The old ecu was for a 2.0, the engine was cooked ruining the liners and all I had to hand was a 2.5 unit. Its all in and running on the 2.0 ecu but wont idle poperly and occasionally revs itself. I have the correct ecu, just need it synching up.
I wasnt sure if it could be done with something like a bosch KT1 or the new snap on verus.

hi i have a problem with my mondeo, i recently changed a brake light that had gone and i changed it for the exact same bulb, then i noticed that when i brake the front side lights come on and so do all the interior dashboard lights, at the same time the cruse control stopped working and it seem to struggle starting.

Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Thanks mark

Was that a stop and tail light bulb as that may be your problem. either a duff bulb, the wrong bulb or fitted incorrectly. The cruise problem may be effected when the side lights are on, but the starting issue may be a different matter. Regards peter

Hi folks, recently bought 2.0 mondeo, duratec engine

It will hardly rev out past 4000rpm. changed plugs & ht leads but no improvement.

Could it be a faulty sensor? runs sweet as a nut apart from this, couple of times the 'fault' has cleared itself and acceleration was brilliant but then it was back to pathetic. Returns 35mpg on mix of town and open roads so thinking it should not be a serious fault.
Air filter looks fairly new and oil recently changed

Thanks in advance for your help Read more

Changed the inlet manifold butterfly valves and that has cured it. The old ones were totally shot and not far from breaking loose.
