I have recently bought my first car and it is an R reg Ka. It has started to bounce and judder along the road. It can happen at anytime regardless of speed, warmth of the engine and if I am changing gear or not.
Does anyone have any idea why it is doing this and what I can do to rectify it?

Hi,
My daughter has just bought a 1.2 petrol polo. The engine cover appears to be loose and rattles making it sound like a diesel.
I cant for the life of me find out how it is fixed to the engine.
Anybody got any ideas please.
Thanks

On Saturday 20th I bought a 55 plate Mondeo from a fiat dealership. I have noticed a couple of times that when I start it, it starts but runs really badly. You have to switch it off and start it again. It's as though it wants to, or is on the verge of stalling - presing the accelerator doesn't clear it. It doesn't happen every time, perhaps 1 in 4 starts. I guess it could be that it's filters need changing, but I was told that they would service it before I took delivery.
Any ideas?
Altered the subject line for you to include the engine type. Do a forum search -------->
over there somewhere on the right you'll find oodles of useful info on this engine. Read more
Another update....
I've just been told that the car is back and ready to be picked up. They said it was a software problem with the engine management system!!! How that would effect the amount of oil in it I don't know. I have been told that it is ready to be picked up. Any suggestions. I'm not keen in taking on a lemon. I plan to run it's pink fluffy dice off this weekend to see if it has any problems.
Hi
The paint on the front bumper of my 97 Primera is a little flaky, all other paintwork is OK.
I'd like to get the front bumper resprayed. Is there anyone in the Eastbourne area that someone can recommend and how much should I be budgeting to have this done?
Thanks in advance, Chris. Read more

i think you're right. i,d reccomend you get a haynes manual, have a sneaky look in halfords or borrow one from a main public library.
A bit of advice for anyone who hasn't used the long-stay car park at Stansted for a little while - as I hadn't. The lettered zones now appear to be grouped into different colours so, when you leave the airport, make sure that you get on a bus which is destined for the appropriate colour group - and not the first 'long-stay' bus that you see. This caught SWMBO and I and several other couples out on Friday when returning from holiday.
The bus driver, of course, treated the situation with all the customer-courtesy you'd expect from a bunch of folks selected on the basis of utter surliness! Read more

Hello, need some advice. my 1997 xantia turbo diesel decided to play up yesterday. I don't know if its the damp or what. typed in code just would not start. after switching engine off a number of times and re-typing code it started. Today not starting again, although this time the code is typed in and and the relay clicks on the starter turns but does not fired up. Read more

If I'm turning left at a two-lane roundabout where there are two lanes on the approach, two lanes on the roundabout and two lanes on the exit, do I need to wait / give way to someone in the right hand lane of the roundabout?
My thinking is that, if someone's in the right hand (outside) lane going round the roundabout, they should be coming off the roundabout in the outside lane so I should be able to just go, in the inside lane, and off in the inside lane, effectively at the same time as the car in the outside lane. Is that reasonable?
The problem is when someone who's going round the roundabout in the outside lane exits in the inside lane.
Someone hooted at me the other evening for turning left in the inside lane when he was in the outside lane (he came off in the inside lane and I was obviously in his way).

Absolutely. If you don't trust what's in front of you you're mad not to hesitate.
Otherwise, foot hard down through the obvious route.
Hi
My 2.0 GT FSI golf never needed a coolant top-up (apart from at the service) in 30,000 miles.
Then, unexpectdly, the warning light came on and I topped it up with about .75litre of water - all I had to hand on the side of the M1
Since then, it has needed two a top-ups of a further .5l, once again, under circumstances when only water was available.
I was wondering, might it have a leak (obvious answer!) or is there the possibility that - in topping-ip with water, rather than coolant, the boiling point has been lowered and more water vapour is escaping, than would, had it been topped-up with coolant?
I have just partially drained the system by about 2l (by removing the expansion tank cap while hot!) and replaced with neat VW coolant.
I will see what develops Read more
Hn,
I had the exact same problem as you with my passat on a 54 plate. It has had 2 x new radiators replaced under warranty. The last radiator never even lasted a year. I got the last radiator installed 2 weeks ago been ok since. Importantly the radiator that they installed this time has been redesigned so that issue does not happen again. I wait and see, as you never know with VW these days.

I agree. The principle is to centre the steering wheel, and then adjust the track rod ends until it is tracked straight and square. They have probably done it the lazy way, i.e. track it and don't bother to see if the wheel is aligned straight. Any reasonabe tyre shop has a special clamp to centralise and hold the steering wheel against the front seat while the work is being done underneath. That's standard.
Be very careful about setting off the airbag. Personal injury and many hundreds of pounds to reset it.

Thanks for all your answers.
Does anyone know where (online preferably) I can get a manual for this car?
