they can only go off centre if
a- youve hit a kerb and damaged something
b- somebody has bodged a tracking on your car
i wouldnt recommend you take the wheel off and move it as it most likely wont be near enough
the answer is to get a proper tracking done by a competant mechanic, explain your problem and if he is indeed competant then he can easily sort it for you

........ my steering wheel has become off centre
Why has it become off centre? Is it perhaps a symptom of another problem? Steering wheels don't "become" off centre for no reason. Has the car been kerbed and the steering linkages been bent/damaged? If that's the case then re-aligning the wheel isn't the solution.

Hi still need to know how to remove my steering wheel ?
My tracking is spot on and the car has never been bent .
As far as i can see thecar had new track rod ends and then not tracked correctly.
the tracking was checked but my steering wheel still off centre.
All i need to know is how to take off the wheel it was removed for a fault in the wiring.
The Roz
no need for a new post, tagging it on the existing will bring it to the top of the pile

The tracking may be correct; but if the s/wheel is still off centre after parts have been replaced, then equal adjustments need to be made to both sides to correct it.
As far as taking the wheel off - forget it. That's a skilled job. The airbag system needs to be disarmed first and you'll probably break the spiral cable if you don't know what you are doing.
Take it back to the people who fitted the TREs and get them to do the job properly.

There's not point taking off the steering wheel to try and centralize the steering wheel, the column has a triangular spigot on the top. So it' a case of either taking it to have the steering set up using four wheel alignment eguipment or by turning the track rod ends in the same direction to align the wheel.

I agree. The principle is to centre the steering wheel, and then adjust the track rod ends until it is tracked straight and square. They have probably done it the lazy way, i.e. track it and don't bother to see if the wheel is aligned straight. Any reasonabe tyre shop has a special clamp to centralise and hold the steering wheel against the front seat while the work is being done underneath. That's standard.
Be very careful about setting off the airbag. Personal injury and many hundreds of pounds to reset it.
