Hi there,
I would like some advice please. I own a 1999 VW Passat Turbo. The standard stock is 150 BHP.
Recently I bought a device on Ebay according to seller tricks the ECU which increases the air flow.
(I may have this info wrong). Has anyone fitted a similar device which worked for them?
Will this device cause damage to my engine or components?
I know most of you would suggest remapping the ECU, but I suppose this is the cheapest method
if it works.
I appreciate any information you may have.
Thanks.

Does anyone know how to get at the washer bottle on an 01 Mondeo estate as the rear washer has stopped working despite being able to hear the pump working? I presume the outlet from the pump has got blocked. Is it an under tray or front bumper removal? Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks for the replies. The front washers are working OK. Does the pump only have one inlet for the water? If this is the case it must be blocked somewhere else.

Im having a problem with the mpg of the car, it is around 4-5mpg less than would what be expected of the figures of this particular model- 1.8 16v.
I tried all the usual stuff- emissions, brakes, CTS, full service,
A garage has suggested it could be the cambelt which may be off a tooth, his words not mine.
Would this cause a 5mpg drop? Car runs fine otherwise and is mainly town used (80%) , with the occasoinal motorway journey.

A few years ago I owned a Ford Capri 2.0 Ghia Auto that had a cam-belt out by one tooth. Performance was slightly strange, initially torque seemed OK but it seemed to have no power above 2500 rpm. I have bad memories of trying to join the A1 at night on a very tight slip road , on kick down it was hopeless. In desperation I stopped to look under the bonnet for something wrong and noticed that the exhaust manifold was glowing red hot! When I finally found and corrected the problem the power increase was incredible, the economy only changed a bit though.
both key fobs for my t reg peugeot 306 HDI have gradually failed over the last few months obvioulsy due to battery failure. having now inserted new batteries (3V CR1620) in both fobs there is still no life. I have tried a different brand of battery also.
surley both fobs can't be faulty?
I have checked that the batteries were put in the right way up!
Any suggestions?

Both the keys for my 406 have failed one way or
another due to the switch contacts parting company with the circuit
boards.
I solved the missus' 306 key fob problems with tin foil; in her case the battery contacts were at fault.
Still going strong several years later.
SWMBO,has a 97 Micra 1.3SR,and I have just done the engine oil and filter on it last week, however,as it's got 68k on the clock, and probably hasn't had a gearbox oil replacement,I thought it may be time to change it.
Does anyone have a picture of the point of draining, and the re-filling point?
Cheers muchly.
Ken.

No picture, but the drain is a bung in the bottom of the gearbox - you can't get it wrong. Fill up (IIRC) is by removing the speedo cable (little bolt holds the end to the gearbox). You need about three litre of a 75W-85 GL-4 gear oil. They actually specify 80W-90, but gearshift quality is better with the 75W-85.
Given that my Mondeo will depreciate fairly steeply even though it's 14 months old, I'm considering Total Loss GAP insurance which should pay the difference between the car insurance payout and what I paid for the car should it be written off. Got quotes for £125-£160 for 3-5 years which doesn't seem too bad even though I hope never to claim on it. Has anybody any knowledge of how good these firms are at actually coughing up if the brown stuff hits the rotating blades? Read more
Yes, I had realised the difference, well the dealer pointed it out, but thanks for the warning. It does seem worth it for the peace of mind
I have recently bought a 1992 Fiat Panda Fire Sky as a second vehicle.
It is due for its MOT next week and the front wiper has suddenly become intermittant, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt, no particular pattern to it. If you leave it it just starts working again for no reason
Is there any known issues for this - Worn wiper gear ( no noise though) or is it likey to be a wiper arm problem??
Any assistance would be appreciated

The Panda is getting to be less common in scrap yards, and a faulty part on yours may well be the same on a wreck.

Not your usual one....
Basically my alarm works fine apart from the fact the keyfob doesnt turn it off!! The doors unlock ok but wothout the rapid indicator flickering, then as soon as you open anything the alarm blares and doesnt stop until you put key in the ignition and press the button on the inside..... Then the indicators flicker as they should and the alarm stops ----- just like it should do when I unlock the car with the keyfob.
The control box is fine, and Ive tried the one from my spare car which I know worked, and the result was the same. Its baffling me but there must be an easy solution.... Read more

His grand plan is that he has seen some leather seats from a rover. I think its a rover 800 and he wants to fit the seats to his golf.
Is this transfer possible or cant it be done?
Thank you all Read more
