Looks like something i would cobble together!
Maybe it should be on previous thread i posted Worst bodge ups!
Well my mum in laws 2001 Punto Mia has just arrived at our house for Mothers Day with the engine management light on and a complaint that the car wouldn't do more than 30 mph! It starts okay but sure enough must have about 15 of its 60 bhp in operation. Any ideas folks? The nearest Fiat dealer is 70 miles away! Thanks Read more
Change the coil pack first as these can fail giving symptoms of 2
2 cylinder running, it MAY fix the problem. It may also be the ECU, but it is usually a faulty coil pack that damages(spikes) it in the first place.
There is a clicking from under the far passenger side facia when the ignition is turned on. This stops if fuse No. 5 is removed on my Turbo Diesel 405 Executive. How do I gain access to this unit and what is the Part No of the motor I need to replace.

Hi
Thats the outside air flap servo motor.
They are £85 new from Peugeot!
This is a scrapyard job, Search out the 405s, 406s, Citroen Xantias & even Range Rovers.
There are a lot of different motors all using the same housing but the insides are different.
You need brown plug with 3 wires.
Hi
That's the outside air flap servo motor.
They are £85 new from Peugeot!
This is a scrapyard job, Search out the 405s, 406s, Citroen Xantias, Basically anything in the PSA family with aircon & even check out the Range Rovers.
There are a lot of different motors all using the same housing but the insides are different.
You need brown plug with 3 wires.
To replace the motor.
Empty the glovebox, Then shut it, At the bottom of the glovebox door you will see 2 x black plastic dowles, Slide these out using a screwdriver & remove the whole glovebox door.
Now unclip the 2 metal spring clips that hold the carpet trim under the glovebox area, Don't ruin the clips because Peugeot no longer supply them!
Now you need to carefully drill out the rivets holding the glovebox surround to the dash, 3 along the top, 1 down each side & 2 at the bottom. These are called PEEL rivets, The backs peel over & break in to 4 little legs that grip the 2 parts of the dash together.
When the dash surround is free, unclip the wiring loom from the white plastic rivet & then you can get at the flap motor.
2 x cross head screws need to be undone that hold the motor & then it just comes free.
Make sure you have a good look at the linkage before removing the motor so you can get it correct when you put it back together.
Get a helper to hold the air intake flap in position to aid reassembly, Just remove the black plastic ECU / pollen filter cover & then remove the pollen filter too, Make sure the ignition key is turned OFF when you are fiddling with the heater, It RUNS whenever the ignition is ON even if the heater is set to OFF! Don't wont no damaged fingers.
You should use some of those spring clips, Like speaker spring clips but bigger & some countersunk screws to fix the dash back together.
A 406 is far easier to do, Peugeot learned from the mistakes of using rivets on the dash & went to screws & clips.
Can anyone explain why the C02 emissions for the Honda Accord Diesel saloon is 143 g/km and the Tourer (estate) with the same engine is 155 g/m? This difference is significant with regard to the new VED rates - £110 compared to £130 read Read more

Interesting about the CR-V. The same engine in the Civic is rated at 135 g/km so I'm sure you are correct. Presumably CO2 emissions are calculated when the car is actually being driven on a rolling road so the mass and rolling resistance then becomes significant. However, the shape of the car wouldn't then be a factor.
My car seems to wobble side to side on the front , I can see this from looking down the bonnet when coming to a stop . I cannot feel much movement if any from grabbing the road wheels , but do get a strange noise when going over rough roads . I have allready changed front springs and shocks ,and anti roll bar bushes and drop links . Car has done 130,000 ish miles but never changed the wishbones , guess these dont last forever ? Or am I overlooking something ?
Car make added to subject header (as per the sticky request at the top of the page) to make question less vague. Read more
I was wrongly under the impression it was a safety feature,ie
if engine died power steering worked on battery power.
Not much point to it otherwise IMO
Power steering doesn't work on my Vectra-C until the engine is running. I've also turned off the engine whilst still moving to elliminate a noise I once had. Once the engine was off, no P/S. It might be a different kettle of fish if the engine died while the ignition was still turned on, but the P/S on these cars draws one heck of a lot of power out of the battery. Enough to make the headlights and dash display momentarily dim down when the wheel is turned when the car is ticking over, so I imagine the cars electrics detects the alternator isn't working and shuts it down.
That aside, once the vehicle is moving, you need very little power assistance anyway. Remember, P/S is only a parking aid. At speed you don't need it as the wheels are turning which makes the steering lighter anyway.
Son's Corsa ran its battery down a few weeks ago (away at university)
He came back yesterday and the radio display is showing "Safe"
Have tried the process in the book for putting code in (ignition on, radio off, press and hold A/S button) but nothing happens.
Have tried disconnecting and re-connecting the battery but is still the same.
We have not got as far as putting in a code so have not had any attempts! Have left ignition and radio on for an hour - still no change.
What am I doing wrong?
It is a 51 1.0 club but he upgraded the radio cassette to a single CD. Read more
Thanks, that did it.
Must learn to read.
Turns out what he thought was the code wasn't so he had to find the radio card. Now sorted.
I've developed a rear (drum) brake squeal on my 02 Zafira . Have taken the drum off and given everything it a good clean , but it persists. The shoe surfaces looked a bit shiny, could this be the cause - is it OK to rough up the surface with sandpaper? - I assume it's all asbestos free these days. Read more
if you back of the adjusters and rebuild the drums up then the adjusters should reajust up again if everything is tickaty boo.

Bought new Philips extra light bulbs.Difficult to fit drivers side, impossible on passenger side.Took car to garage, was told that Toyota knew of the problem and advise bumper removal to get access.Charged £44-very fair. After driving in dark lights were seriously out of focus.Garage reports plastic of bulb holder melted.Toyota knew of the problem and would replace a modified plastic headlamp under warranty-very fair.So if you want to avoid a lot of hassle think carefully before fitting extra light bulbs.GERIATRIC.
