Hope someone can help with any info poss!

In June last year bought a 206cc which was a year old for just under £15k. Over the past 7 months I have had several problems which have been fixed but for some reason my local \'friendly!!\' Peugoet dealer cannot seem to fix the screcching noise coming from my front brakes. So far In September they \'DE-GLAZED?\' the brake pads that came with the car, this did not work so it was suggested that I either put up with the noise or buy new brake pads. So I bought the new brake pads. About a month later they started with the god awful noise again! Took the car into the garage and waited for their call. Turns out they had to DE-GLAZE my new brake pads! this was because sometimes when brakepads are put on incorretly this is what happens??? Drove out of the garage and the next day the same noise occuring again. Am so fed up with being taken for a ride, I love my car but had enough.

Anyone else had any similar problems? Read more

It is unlikely brake pads are fitted incorrectly.from what you said de glazed it means the pads where rubbed down surface to sides.that wont mean the pad is not suffering.slight distortion
on the back of disc pad is a possible cause ie the pad has not been given something like copperslip it will get rid of any problems in that respect so I doubt what you have been told?

Could be wrong let me know.

First thing I would check is thermostat. As you overheated may have fried the stat.Should really change it anyway after overheating as they rarely work correctly afterwards.another possible is have you got the screw adjustable jubilee clips on the hoses or are they the compression type ie non adjustable.they are prone to coming loose and leak on the underneath of the pipe.hard to spot a leak but it happens?

On the A3 this afternoon. It's a three lane dual carriageway with 50 mph limit. I was just climbing up the Malden underpass when the traffic all slowed down where the slip road joins and also exits so its four lanes. The reason was a contented driver in his 4 wheel pavement mobile who, having negotiated the underpass, was now performing a perfect left hand signal to cross over the slip road.

He survived but for how long?
What can you say but Be attentive?

I am certainly seeing more of these pavement mobiles in the traffic. Is it just happening in the Surrey stockbroker belt or is it country wide? Read more

If you're refering to those old person electric thingys then I'm afraid they're not pavement mobiles - it's illegal to drive them on the pavement!

reference "buyers Guide" 2CV....The drive shafts do not have to come off to replace the front disc pads. The job can be done in aboud ten minutes with a long screw driver. Read more

"The job can be done in about ten minutes with a long screw driver."

Ah - so the same should work for my C5!

Wot do you mean don't be silly? I'm not that daft, I know fine I'd need a longer screwdriver for the C5........

I wonder how a 2.2 HDI would work in a 2CV? Might leave its little canvas roof behind!

I am a regular reader of the Honest John column in Saturday's Telegraph. In the column Honest John regularly recommends premium petrol such as Shell Optimax. Is there any benefit to my car, e.g. longevity, fuel economy of purchasing Shell Diesel, Shell Diesel Plus or am I best to stick to Tesco's cheapest?

I am interested in technical details or other websites if anyone can point me in the right direction please.

Many thanks

Mine runs best on Tesco veggie oil. It accelerates quicker and has far better smelling emmisssions.

Allegedly.

Have been toying with the idea of fitting a tuning box for some time, but still have reservations about the long term impact on reliability, (particularly fuel pumps).

I know several members in th B.R. have fitted these devices, and wondered if anybody has put a substantial mileage (40k plus) without any undue problems.

I have been reading on another forum where somebody is needing a replacement gearbox & final drive bearings due to the extra loading after only 30k !!!!! Read more

I fitted a "VAN AAKEN ORIGINAL TUNING BOX"to my A4 1.9TDI about 3.5 years ago.Its given superb service since & been very reliable over 55k miles. With any upgrade such as this you MUST inform your insurance though.

Dear all,

Just went into my post regarding the ex police T5 and an advert came up, something called x10 message alert extolling the virtues of cctv. It wouldn't close and every time I hit the X it just threw up another page. Applied the internet lock and it still carried on. Had to pull the plug in the end. Any ideas??

Has the engine been pressure-washed lately? I once had slightly similar symptoms with a Citroen ZX 1.4i. Ran OK when cold and when idling but cut out when hot and under load. The cause was water trapped under the spark plug covers.
