Sadly in my part of the world (Ipswich) plod has plenty of time to visit bike rallies, popular bike events, favorite roads etc and target the great menance to safety of loud pipes, small number plates and dark visors. NEVER seen him on a roundabout pulling the numerous people driving one handed while talking on the phone. Seems to me that plod enjoysd targeting bikers and flying around in a helicopter.
If I was at the police know eho I'd be slow hand clapping at the police federation in Blackpool.

Honest,
You need to include the following in your list of faults for the A6.
The 18t SE I am currently driving has developed a fault on the drivers window. It crunches and goes up and down repeatedly at a single operation of the button. I soldiered on with it for about a week before it finally gave up the ghost and fails to move at all now. ( fortunately it was up at the time!)
The door panel will not reveal it's secret and let me get it off without risk of damage. The local Audi centre happily booked my car in for repair diagnosing a faulty regulator? without having looked at it! How come? Because it's such a common fault! I'm told by the parts manager. And he should know. Looking through the receipt history with the car the same part was replaced thirteen months ago!
And what size of bill should I expect next week? I'll let you know.
Any other drivers suffered the same problem? Anyone had any joy out of Audi in terms of goodwill..........for the same??? Read more

Stu - Audi's of late have been referred to as an expensive Vauxhall. I had to chuckle!! I own an A4 TDi Avant and I am not that impressed with the reliability and durability.

When I operate the windscreen washer on my Honda civic the blades will wipe the screen 2 or 3 times before the washer fluid reaches the screen. If the screen is dirty this can only scratch the screen before it cleans it.
I used to drive Mitsubishi Galants before changing to Honda Civics and the wipers on those would not operate until fluid had reached the screen.
Is there any kind of modification I can do to the system ie. non return valves to stop the fluid draining back into the reservoir or electronic delay perhaps?

Malcolm. Read more

I have a 405 estate and have the same complaint.
I went to a breakers yard and "liberated" a time delay relay from a Vauxhall Astra ( I knew which relay it was on an Astra as I used to have one). I haven't wired it in yet though. I intend to add an extra switch to allow either intermittent or continuous operation, as in very heavy rain it does need to be on all the time.

When I was little (1966) we had a grey Humber Hawk with a bench front seat which seemed at the time to be a wonderful car, and I was very upset when my Dad changed it for an Austin Cambridge. Does anyone know of any Humber Hawks still in existance? Read more

I saw in the press somewhere that you can get a new classic VW camper imported from Brazil. Think it was about £18k.

I have fitted new alloys and the rear wheels now rub. I have rolled the arches but they still rub at full compression of the suspension.
Any sujestions for suspension mods to increase clearance? Read more

Go back to the wheel company and ask them what gives. They have a legal obligation to sell you something fit for the purpose.

Are there any micro cars available in the UK which can be driven by 16 year olds apart from the 50cc Fun Tech? Specifically something with weather protection. (Daughter won't wear crash helmet- uncool and spoils hair). Read more

I own a 1989 F reg Mini mayfair with servo assisted brakes, i just wondered what the procedure is for bleeding the brakes, the front are disc and the rear are drums. Is my car on a split system and if so which will it be, diagonal or front and rear. Also, just how do i go about bleeding them, please tell, i am new to all this and although the old haynes manula is helpful it doesnt tell me everything i need to know. Will i need sumone else need to help, to pump the pedal, and howdo these kits i have read about work, are they nescacerry?
the reason why i am intending to bleed them is because i accidently undid the wrong nut! d'oh! and undid the bolt which split the caliper in half, causing a small amount of brake fluid to see out, i immediately realised what i was doin and tightened it back up, will it reseal ok?

i made a mistake but i ain't stupid, i know quite a bit about cars and have worked on tractors and other mechanical things for a long time. Thanks for all your help guys even if only one of you had any practical advice, my car is now bled, i bought a one man bleeding kit and the car is working fine. The only thing i really wanted oto know was which way the system was split, but i have managed to find that out anyway. thanks again

Odd query but I was embarrased in the local school queue (all Mums apart from me) this afternoon to be the only person that didn't know that a tennis ball cut in half was the key to stealing the old RS 2000.
What on earth were they on about?

Robert,
Some cars have an doorlock auto release safety feature. If you hit the chassis in a particular spot with a rubbere hammer(nr the fuel tank?) all the doors unlock. I think this is in case of RTA pile up's where occupants may be unconscious. Some of the Lotuses are a prime example.

I am trying to trace a company which has sites in Bath, Folkstone and a couple of other locations, where corrosion protection materials are applied with the objective of extending rust free life of cars.
In a recent Telegraph, Protech (or ProTec) was named together with a telephone number. I made an initial contact but subsequently lost the number. Despite several searches of "Honestjohn.co.uk" and of the Explorer I have been unable to trace the company. Can you help, please? Read more

Brian,
The U.S. company you listed seems to be the one I am looking for.
Thanks for your response.
