New 207 launched

Good looking successor to Peugeot 206, built on stretched PSA 'Platform One'. 4,030mm long by 1,720mm wide by 1,472mm high. Launch belt-cam petrol engines were 1,360cc 8v with 75bhp and 87lb ft torque, 1,360cc 16v with 90bhp and 100 lb ft torque and 1,587cc 16v with 110bhp and 110lb ft torque. Diesel engines were 1,398cc HDI 70 with 70bhp and 118lb ft torque, 1,560cc HDI 90 with 90bhp and 158lb ft torque and 1,560cc FAP 110 with 110bhp and 192lb ft torque.

From around £8,500. Very high spec even on base versions. UK launch 8th June 2006. Prices from £8,995 for 1.4 Urban 3-dr. Insurance Groups from 3E. All 207s except for GTI 175 and CCs have full sized spare wheels.

1.6 GT THP 150 announced

First 207 model to use the Peugeot / BMW 1.6 turbocharged engine. Available November 2006. 3 door model in GT trim only. £14,345 on the road. 150 bhp at 5800 rpm and 180 lb ft of torque at only 1400 rpm. Spec includes: six airbags, ABS, EBFD, EBA, ESP, tyre pressure sensors, two Isofix three-point rear child seat mountings, electric windows, Thatcham class 1 alarm / deadlocks, automatic static directional headlamps and wipers, dual zone climate control air conditioning, panoramic “Cielo” glass roof with sunblind, 17” alloy wheels, steering column adjustable for reach and rake, height adjustable driver and passenger seats and half leather trim.

March 2007

New chain cam EP6 1.6 litre 16v 120bhp petrol engine with 5-speed manual or 4-speed sequential auto with lock-up available from March 2007 from £11,795. on the road. Called 207 SPORT 1.6 16v 120 and 207 SE 1.6 16v 120. This 1.6 replaces the old 110bhp 1.6. 120 bhp at 6000 rpm and maximum torque of 120 lb ft at 4250 rpm. Very flat torque curve which, even at only 2,000 rpm results in 103 lb ft, or 88% of its maximum torque being produced, giving excellent driveability.

Works very well with 4-speed autobox, though you need to work it using the back to front Tiptronic type shift to get the most out of it. Still very smooth and sweet with excellent handling. 0-60 12.5 seconds, top speed 122, 40.3mpg combined, 167g/km CO2 VED Band E, insurance group 7E. AUTO RECOMMENDED.

207 Cielo announced, based on the popular 207 Sport with Cielo panoramic glass roof, metallic paint (Diablo Red, Neysha Blue and Aluminium), Bluetooth hands-free phone kit, Cruise control with speed limiter. 75bhp engine is PSA's old 1.4 belt cam; 95bhp engine is the same as in a MINI One.

GT THP 175 from June 2007, quite cheap for the performance at £14,995. 0-60 6.8 seconds, top speed 137mph, 39.2mpg combined, CO2 171g/km VED Band E, insurance group 15E.

Peugeot 207 m:play, powered by a 1.4 litre petrol engine and in both three and five door body styles and three exciting exterior colours, Flamenco Red, Lacerta and Neysha Blue. Peugeot 207 Sport XS THP 150 three door is powered by 1.6 litre THP turbo petrol engine producing 150 bhp and 180 lb ft of torque at only 1,400 rpm. Choice of Bianca White or Aegean Blue, with 17” Hockenheim alloy wheels, Full colour coded rear bumper, Twin front “chin” spoilers, Rear boot spoiler, Full black leather interior, Special XS carpet mats, ESP. June 2009

Announcement of facelift from August 2009.,Twelve different engines, including a 175PS 1.6 Turbo. Revised exterior and interior styling. New standard equipment. Low CO2 emissions.

Redesigned front with a softer visual look. Increased use of exterior body colouring and chrome detailing. Spectacular new rear lights which use panels of light emitting diodes (LEDs) on the hatchback and CC models. More luxurious Passenger Compartment with new trims and detailing which place the emphasis on perceived quality, comfort and dynamism, new instrument panel designs with a more modern look and visual appeal.

The new 207 benefitted from: Particularly fuel efficient engines with reduced greenhouse gas emissions. “Very low fuel consumption” optimised not only aerodynamically but also by operation of the engine itself and the rolling resistance of the vehicle, allowing CO2 emissions to be reduced to 99 g/km. Gradual introduction of engines meeting the Euro5 emission standard. Introduction of a gear change indicator on manual gearbox models to encourage the driver to drive in a more fuel efficient way.

New standard equipment to include: Peugeot Connect USB with Bluetooth, in-car entertainment system. One-touch direction indicator function for safe lane changes. Remote controlled window closure, via the plip unit on hatchback and SW models. One-touch operation of the driver's electric window on the 207 CC.

December 2009

Peugeot 207 Verve, currently available with a 1.4 litre 8v 75 bhp petrol and 1.4 litre HDi 70 diesel engines, will be joined by a new 1.4 VTi 95 bhp petrol and 1.6 HDi 90 diesel engine, in January 2010. Also available in three new exterior colours, from January 2010.

April 2010

Introduction of a new 6-Speed manual gearbox and a new Euro 5 HDi diesel engine. 207 Sport HDi 110 hatchback and SW Sport and Outdoor HDi 110 models replaced by new versions fitted with a new 6-speed manual gearbox and a more powerful HDi 112 bhp diesel engine.

This new 1.6 litre HDi 112 FAP diesel engine meets the requirements of the Euro 5 emission standards and benefits from a number of improvements over the current 110 bhp unit. These include increased performance in terms of driveability and responsiveness, as well as quieter operation, while at the same time reducing CO2emissions.

Thanks to its new hi-tech design, this new four cylinder engine with a capacity of 1,560 cm 3 and eight valves, has a maximum torque output of 270 Nm at 1,750 rpm, an increase of 12.5% over the current engine and, during overboost, 285 compared to 260 Nm. It also has a very wide operating range with high levels of torque available at all times, ensuring good driveability and reduced fuel consumption on a day to day basis (since the user can drive more often at lower engine speeds): 135 Nm from 1000 rpm, 242 at 1500 rpm, 270 from 1750 to 2000 and 224 Nm at 3500 rpm. Its maximum power output is 112 bhp at 3600 rpm.

Peugeot 207 Sport models also benefit from improvements to the standard specification with the fitment of dark tinted rear windows and rear electric windows on the five-door hatchback and SW versions.

June 2010

Peugeot’s popular 207 hatchback and SW range expanded with introduction of a Special Edition Millesim 200 version.

Available with a choice of petrol and HDi diesel engines. The Millesim model will strengthen the 207 range with its upgraded standard specification and unique Millesim badging, offering even greater value for money for retail customers.

All models are based on the current S hatchback and SW versions but benefit from a range of extra standard equipment consisting of: 15” alloy wheels, Peugeot Connect USB & Bluetooth, front fog lights, sports front grille with chrome detailing, coloured coded side rubbing strips with chrome inserts, aluminium roof bars (SW only) and unique Millesim 200 badging.

The 207 Millesim will be available with two petrol engine options in the hatchback version. The first is a 1.4 litre 8v 75 bhp engine and the second a 1.4 litre 16v VTi 95 bhp engine. This engine uses Peugeot’s innovative VTi technology to improve the engine’s efficiency, significantly reducing fuel consumption (particularly in phases of partial load) and, therefore, CO2emissions. The 207 SW Millesim is only available with the 1.4 litre 16v VTi 95 bhp petrol engine.

For hatchback HDi diesel versions, the 207 Millesim is powered by Peugeot’s 1.4 litre HDi 70 or a 1.6 litre HDi 90 engine. Both engines are acknowledged for their driveability, performance and low running costs of 65.7 mpg (64.2 mpg for the SW) in the combined cycle and zero vehicle excise duty. The 207 SW Millisem is only available with the 1.6 litre HDi 90 bhp diesel engine.

The 207 Millesim 200 also benefits from Peugeot’s extensive experience and the latest technological advances to ensure safety of the highest order at all levels. Standard fitment across all models of: four airbags, five three-point inertia reel seat belts with a fasten seat belt warning system, front and rear head restraints designed to limit whiplash, two Isofix mountings to accommodate a child seat and an electrically operated child safety system which simply and safely locks the rear doors and disables the electric rear windows on five-door models and the SW.

The 207 Millesim range will be launched in the UK in June priced from £11,995.00 on-the-road for the1.4 8v 75 petrol hatchback version. All models bought in June will also come with a free Nokia 5230 smart phone with inbuilt satellite navigation with free future updates and an in-car mounting kit.

October 2010

Peugeot 207 Sportium special edition announced. The Peugeot 207 Sportium hatchback is available with a choice of either a VTi 95 Euro 5 petrol engine or Peugeot’s new HDi 92 Euro 5 diesel engine. It builds on the already comprehensive standard specification of the previous special edition 207 Millesim model.

All models have: power steering, six airbags, remote control central locking with deadlocks, electric front windows – “one touch” for the driver, reach and rake adjustable steering, radio/ CD player, ABS, EBFD, EBA, trip computer, electrically operated / heated door mirrors, manual air-conditioning, front fog lights, chrome effect finish to the front grille, colour-coded body side mouldings (including rear bumper), Peugeot connect USB with Bluetooth, alloy wheels 15” on petrol models and 16” on HDi models, rear parking aid, Sportium interior pack and dark tinted rear window / rear side glass.
