What to watch out for

5-1-2017: Report that November 2017 Audi A3 TFSI S tronic Cabriolet does not remember the Audi Drive Select settings after having been switched off. Simply defaults to the standard settings.

11-10-2019: Saga reported over DQ200 7-speed dry clutch S tronic in Audi A3 1.4TSI cabrio bought used at 3 years old with 10,000 miles that at least had a happy ending: Not long after buying it owner started to notice the type of noise old style fan belts emitted when worn. Unfortunately he had bought the car from a dealer on the other side of London and it was not practical for us to take it back there for repair. However he experienced excellent service at Audi Tunbridge Wells who diagnosed slipping clutches in the DSG which required them to be removed and replaced: a four day job. Audi Warranty said they would not cover the repair because clutches are a "wear and tear" item. However, Audi GB agreed to cover the cost of the parts and Audi Tunbridge Wells undertook the repair at no cost to the owner. This despite having bought the car from a completely different dealership. Strange that someone at VW Group warranties took the view that clutch packs in DSGs were not covered.

28-10-2019: Report of water flooding rear footwell of Audi S3 cabriolet. Possible due to same blocked drains issue as in Audi TT Roadster

Recalls

4-11-2015: EA288 1.8 TFSI and 2.0 TFSI engines recalled in USA because the rear camshaft lobe is prone to unexpectedly shear off from the shaft. The failure causes reduced engine power and loss of vacuum pump power, cutting vacuum supply to the brake booster and eventually resulting in increased braking effort."A reduction in engine power and/or increased need for braking effort after vacuum reserve has been depleted while driving can increase the risk of a crash," a statement cautions. The campaign affects approximately 92,000 vehicles including the 2015-2016 Beetle, Beetle Convertible, Golf, Golf GTI, Golf SportWagen, Jetta and Passat. In notifying the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, VWG stated that the root cause of the camshaft failures has not been fully understood. The company is still continuing an in-depth failure analysis and development of a repair solution, however a fix may not be ready until the end of the first quarter next year.

8-7-2017: Announcement on Reuters that Volkswagen is recalling 766,000 VW Golf Mk VII, Audi A3, Skoda Octavia and SEAT Leon worldwide for a software update to their braking control systems. The braking control system may not function properly in certain driving conditions, such as when the driver over-steers, under-steers or slams on the brakes.
