When I put my car into gear and let the clutch out, nothing happens?

I drove my son's 2001 Vauxhall Corsa and after I started it and put it into gear, I let the clutch out and nothing happened except engine revs. What's wrong?

Failed clutch. Could be oil contamination of the clutch either from a failed crankshaft end seal or a failed clutch slave cylinder seal.
