The glow plug light has come on in my 2011 Volkswagen Golf after the emissions fix - what are my options?

My wife's 2011 Volkswagen Golf 1.6, 52,000 miles, has just had the emissions fix and the glowplug light has come on twice with associated loss of power in the following week. What are my options?

This happens when the fix sends so much through the EGR that a partially clogged EGR finally gets blocked. They should replace the EGR FoC, but they might try to get away with charging you for it. Don't let them.
