Why does my Vauxhall Astra Estate ratting during start up?

My Vauxhall Astra Estate (1.6 petrol with 200k on the clock) has developed a heavy rattle/knocking noise. It last for a second or two at the start up. Sounds like it's in the head/VVT area. Always flushed engine with oil changes, but I'm guessing either the oil is draining back completely while the engine is not running or blocked/defective VVT gear. Does either sound correct to you?

Could also be that the oil filter does not have a non return valve. Best only to buy OEM or known brand oil filters. But at 200k you can expect some engine wear.

I have a 2007 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 petrol. Once the car has been running for around 5-10 minutes, on idle, it seems to be making a ticking noise. The car sounds like a diesel, but drives fine. I had it fully...
At low revs there is the sound of slight vibration type noise, less so with the windows closed.
