Audi A4 or BMW 3 Series Convertible?

I’m looking to buy a four seater convertible for about 6k (max). I’d love an automatic and I’ll be doing approx 20k miles pa.

I’ve narrowed my choice down to either an Audi A4 2.5 TDI auto or BMW 318 auto (1.8l or 2.0l petrol).

Out of these 2, which one would you recommend? Or maybe even offer an alternative?

Your problem is you are seeking to buy at a time of peak demand for convertibles, so they are mostly £2k - £4k more than they would have been in November/December. The A4 2.5TDI is belt cam. The BMW is chain cam. Different driving characteristics so it's really down to which you like best.
