What do you think of CVT transmissions?

Are CVT transmissions any good?

CVT transmissions are generally rated for their reliability and efficiency, although they're often not as pleasant to use as a traditional torque-converter or dual-clutch transmission. They can make quite an unpleasant noise during heavy acceleration – but, if you mainly drive around town or rarely accelerate briskly, a CVT is fine.
