Can I put a private plate on a car that's leased?

I want to put a private plate on my eight-month-old car but I do not hold any documentation for the vehicle as it is on a four-year Personal Hire Contract so the registered owner of the vehicle is the leasing company.

In that case, you can't do it. Keep it on retention until you become the registered keeper of a car that you can put it on.
