VW Bora 1.6 / 2002 - Engine Oil in Coolant - Bora1.6

Hi,

I have Volkswagen Bora 1.6 2002 Model and currently residing in one of the Gulf Country.

I am complately layman about Car Technical Isuues anyways i would like to get some help from u bcoz i'm facing an issue in my car. Just 3 days back when i finish my duty i came to my car and started as usual normally after 1 minute the sign on the dashboard was displaying "STOP Check Coolant Servive Manual". i used to have some coolant in my car so i thought there must be less coolant in the tank, i added some coolant in it and i can see a choclaty milk shake type liquid in the coolant tank and i closed everything and started the car again then everything was ok even there was no message on dash board meter as well. 2 days later in the morning time when i was suppose to leave for my office as usual started my car same thing displayed on dashboard meter. I stopped the car kept in parking and as favor from my friend to drop me office. Now yesterday i i took the car to mechanic he said "Engine Oil is Mixed in Coolant" when he checked the engine oil he told me engine is empty there is no oil in the engine then he fill 2 litres of oil. When i asked him how much will be the cost to repair it he answered around $ 135 also leave the car in garage for half day for the rectification of the same.

Kindly suggest something.

The most likely cause is head gasket failure but you wouldn't get that fixed for $135 so I suspect it has an oil to water oil cooler which is leaking.

Could be a failed Vag Oil Cooler mounted above the oil filter. Regards Peter

The coolant container will get hot, that is because when you have driven it the engine contains hot (actually nearly boiling) water.

The milky coolant is a problem and it should not be dripping onto the road. If you continue to drive the car in this state you will end up destroying the engine. Get it to a garage ASAP.

Thanks for the information Mr. Peter.

Finally i already took the car to garage and got the problem rectified. He changed around 6 things in the car which includes Oil Filter, Engine Oil Cooler, Engine Oil, Coolant, Radiator Tank and Radiator Tank Cap. I was charged $160 including labour charges. After changing all above mentioned parts except Radiator Tank when he started the car same thing displayed on Dashboard Meter "STOP Check Coolant Service Manual" i asked him this is same thing what was in the last. Radiator Tank needs to be replace as well he replied.

But i have some confusion related to Radiator Tank means it is just a Plastic Container and can it be faulty. How come

Kindly Elaborate.

After a while having some discussion with the garage owner regarding the European cars and he elaborate that European Cars are not Suitable for the Gulf region because the temperature of Gulf is extreme hot and in Europe moderate that's why most of the European cars have same problem especially in Summers but this problem is not gonna happen 2 or more years once you change the spare it is gonna last around 5 years minimum this is the specialty with European cars if this problem should have happened to Japanese car you were suppose to pay almost $330 but Japanese cars don't get this type of fault normally just in rear cases he added.

Is this true what he said?

In the initial stage when the vehicle moves it don't take high speed even on the full accelerator and after it takes a good speed. What kind of problem this can be. I think i already have mentioned in my 1st message that my Car is having Automatic Transmission.

Kindly put some light on this topic as well.

The header tank contamination prevents the level sensor prongs from working properly and it is best to just change the tank to get a clean system. Regards Peter
