I think it's dead ugly, and shall not be buying one.
New Rolls - Ian Cook
I won't be buying one either, Ian. At 19 feet long it won't fit in the garage unless I park the van outside and throw out some of the model aircraft, and I'm not going to do that.

It's gross!

It hasn't been updated much recently, but www.sniffpetrol.com/ has a very piece on the new Roller - I think it was the photos that made me laugh.

From the front it looks like Lady Penelope's car in Thunderbirds....!
New Rolls - Citroënian {P}
Ian & Ian,

I agree with you both. It's ugly so I won't be buying one, and moreover I'd have to build a garage to put it in, being somewhat garage-dly challenged at present.

A completely impractical and asthetically-challenged monster, I'll be taking my £250,000 or whatever it is elsewhere... ;-)

Probably back to the Monopoly box I got it out of....

Is this really what the Germans think an ostentatious British car should look like?

Possibly better than Bristol's efforts but that isn't really saying much!
New Rolls - Pugugly {P}
I have to say though, what impressed me was the level of gadgetry and attention to detail.

Pivoting badges in the hub centres that actually ensure that the RR symbol is always the right way up when parked.

Umbrellas in the B posts with their own drainage channels....

A flying lady that disappears into the Grille when parked in less desirable places.

Work of art - ugly front end - but a work of art.

Just be grateful the Americans didn't buy RR!
New Rolls - Mark (RLBS)
Well, I rather like it.
New Rolls - madf
well since almost every - sorry forget the almost - new RR for the last 20 years from the Silver Wraith has looked like a large slab sided tank on wheels, I think the current model looks a little better but not much.

Since no-one buys one for any reason apart from status, however, presumably those who want one will just confirm they have more money than taste.. again.

Poop poop:-)

contrary b***** mary ...
Hope you'de enjoying your holiday, BTW.
New Rolls - Ian Cook
Oh, I like it too, Mark. It has presence and individuality. Since I can't afford one I can be flippant about it.

Didn't I notice that the one shown to journalists (presumably the first-off) was a left hooker? Sends a message, doesn't it?
;o)

Oh dear! I rather like it also, even if it is not the kind of car I'd buy with the money.

The colour we have seen, in photos, does it no favour. On the street, in black, it will be impressive.

As to the mechanics of it, well, Sir Henry Royce would not be designing pushrod motors today.

Absolutely agree! Ugly as sin!

When I first saw it, I thought the front end had been 'disguised' before launch to put off the press. Couldn't believe that this was actually it!

Reminds me of the Peugeot advert set in India where the guy smashes the front end into a wall to 'customise' it. New Roller looks as if it has tail ended a substantial artic or suchlike.

Nope, I think I'll be taking my hard-earned elsewhere too. (I think I was just one up the waiting list from the Sultan of Brunei too.)

Wells in the back with drains for umbrellas? I once had a Mini like that......

Graeme.

Apart from a rather pathetic "Look at me, I'm very rich" what exactly is the point of a Roller? What does it do that a Merc, Lexus or even a Mondeo doesn't?

Of all the cars I have ever lusted after, even with ever changing tastes, RR has never even figured.
New Rolls - Tony Bee
And there is no diesel engine option.
New Rolls - puntoo
If you were to purchase one of these the last thing on your mind would be economy. You would run the economy.

These are my own opinions, and not necessarily those of all Toads.

Rather a Mondeo hearse than a Volvo one!! ;-)

I wonder if Mark would let me get away with a stiff/volvo play on words...

Best not to try.

You´re probably right.

The new BMW-Rolls is hideous, why didn't they use a stylist, all they've done is copy Lady Penelope's car off the TV.

Don't anyone ever mention the word Royce in connection with this car. Sir Henry Royce must certainly be turning in his grave. For all the people who, like me, worked at "Royces" in Derby and Crewe this car is just a bad dream.
New Rolls - 007
The one thing they overlooked was to fit running boards!
