Hi Gents, just wondering if anyone can help me, airbag light on cruise control not working, all points to a duff clockspring. After consulting the finest brains in my local Ford dealers, i find out i have two options one with a steering angle sensor, one without and furthermore they cant tell me which one my car is fitted with, or what a steering angle sensor does. All i got was a load of waffle about having to have it callibrated [ more exspense] after the repair completed. Anyone point me in the right direction, many thanks guys

crusie control and air bag fault does point more towards the "clock spring" or squib as it should be called. Diagnostic check should enlighten further.

steering angle sensor again can be checked with diagnostics, unlikley to cause crusie control and air bag light fault.

If the steering angle sensor is replaced it does have to be calibrated, it relates to Stability control and braking, it calculates the turn of the steering when braking and compensates accordingly but more so if cornering to excess. Difficult to discribe but along those lines.

Diag check first ! by someone that knows what they are doing !

Thank you for your explanation of how a steering angle sensor works. I have had a diag check and it threw up the code for cruise control malfunction, this manifested itself on dash display as engine malfunction, very confusing. There are twe types of squib for my car but they were unable to tell me which one i had or even if i had a steering angle sensor. I now have the part nos. the number ending B.E. or B.F. is for car with sas. A.F. or A.E. is without, just got to take mine apart to find out which i have. Many thanks anyway for not treating me as a windup,all advice is worth listening to and i have learnt somthing new. CHEERS Injection Doc
