Vauxhall Zafira 2.0 . - A.B.S warning light intermittant problem - silverbullit

Hi to all on the forum. I have joined so i can post a topic and maybe get some sound advice as i have encountered a small problem from my abs warning light on my dashboard, the light sometimes comes on when i start the engine, it wont go out when all other warning lights go out after a few seconds, the abs light will stay on as long as the engine runs. I have tried this little trick and it seems to work, well at least until i start the motor again after not driving the car.

If i get the light come on from a start , i turn off the engine and then re start it, the light then goes out?????

Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be?.

Very best regards.

Mike.

Welcome to the forum. You're more likely to get advice if this appears in the Technical section, so I'm moving it there.

Do you tend to turn the key quickly to the starter position? If so try turning the dash lights on and wait ten seconds or so before starting to allow the system to complete its self-check routine.

Can you tell us what year and engine the car is?

Hi folks.

The car is a 1997 2.0 manual diesel , i always wait for the tests to finish before starting the motor. I set off to work this morning at about 05.10 and after the initial start up the light stayed on again, i turned off the motor and then re started it and the light then went out and stayed out for the hour and a half journey into work., this is typical of what is going wrong.

I am wondering if this may be a case of the sensors being ok but for some odd reason the system test may be flawed somewhere, the fact that i can restart the motor with no further warning light kind of throws doubt on there being a sensor fault as it would stay on if there was indeed a fault , or am i missing something obvious here?.
