Peugeot 306 1.9 D Turbo - 306 1.9 Diesel Turbo - Priming pump - Crowther

I'm currently experiencing starting problems on my aging 306 (1.9 Diesel Turbo). I'm fairly sure its the rubber priming pump allowing air into the system. It is especially bad starting when already warm (not good in petrol stations). Anyway, I've got hold of what purports to be a replacement priming pump (made by Delphi) but I'm not convinced it is a good fit.

The unit on the car appears to have a 90-degree kink at the inlet whereas the delphi pump is straight.

I don't normally try my hand at much beyond routine servicing (though at 212,000 miles I must be doing something right!) so I'm not keen on re-arranging fuel lines to accommodate this pump unless the problem worsens.

Has anyone replaced one of these pumps, and if so, do you have any advice?

Any sort of replacement pump should work if you plumb it in, it only has an inlet and outlet pipe, providing you get these round the right way you cant go wrong. It may be necessary to replace the pipes if the connections are different, you should be able to obtain lengths of pipe at a motor factors.
