Hi I want to fit a new fuel filter but it has no primer on the filter how do you prime the fuel system

I think you have to fill the filter with diesel before fitting the pipes. A stupid idea IMO.

IIRC a dealer would use a vacuum gun to suck fuel up to the pump.

just fit the filter and start the motor it self bleeds as it has a ele pump

If the TDDI is the same as my now departed TDCI you MUST fill the filter with diesel, because it is not self priming.
I know this to my cost because I asked my local garage to change the diesel filter when I was having an MOT. The idiot mechanic did not fill the filter and spent an hour trying to start it with easy start stuff. The battery went flat and he used jump leads. Still it wouldn't start so he towed it for about a mile before it fired up.
Shortly after the DMF went kaput.

So if it is the same as a TDCI you must fill the filter before you try to start it.
