Well Preston is only 10 miles from Blackburn and it's well known that there are 4,000 holes in Blackburn, Lancashire. Although it is said that they were rather small. :-)

Altho I have stuck to man made holes - things like the Rift Valley, or Colorado Canyon might qualify if you approach 'side on'?????

Now keeping to things automobile -
The Lunar Buggy may have a problem with the largest crater on the moon, it is on the side we cannot see, and is named the South Pole - Aitken Basin. It is 2240km in width, and 13 kms deep. This is also the largest known crater in our solar system.

Not fair. The trolley bus was blown into the hole by a german 1000kg bomb.

Not one of the Beatles better lyrics. You do know that it was referring to the Moors murders and later drew complaints for it's tastelessness ?

"Er...whats the competition element?"
A `mines bigger than yours` theme, as above but taken in the current `snow event` using YOUR OWN cameras - or phones.... too late now, I should have been more precise...

News to me Mr X. Apologies if it offended anyone given that info.

Think you have been misled on that one

It is from a daily mail article about there being 4000 pot holes in the roads of Blackburn.
|
This hole broke my spring and exceeded the design limitations of my car and I won £1200+ for suspension replacement from the Council in court for failure to maintain the fabric of the carriageway, although not shown, the whole road is crazed and cracked, and this previous patch repair has failed with material and water ejected onto the footpath...

We need to invite the Romans back to build and repair our roads.
They're called Italians now, however.
Oops, this opens a whole new can of worms along the lines of "British jobs for British workers".

Came round the M25 today A12/127 section and near A1 junction there are some pot holes that could easily smash a car wheel in the inside lane mainly along the tracks where the truck n/s wheels run.
One hole which i obviously didn't alight to measure must have been a very vicious 6/8" deep at the lowset point and probably 12" wide by 24" long, truly the worst i've seen untreated on a motorway.
I managed to avoid most of them, but any souls scurrying about tonight in the dark and wet could easily come a cropper.
