Sell duelfuel car - avoid London CC?? - Smileyman
I have been asked to sell a company Vauxhall Vectra. This is a duelfuel petrol / LPG car, manufactured as such by Vauxhall.

Is there a premium for such vehicles in London where the driver can be exempt of the Congestion Charge fee?

There is a saving of approx £2,000 pa to the right commuter ... a sum not to be sneezed at!

Otherwise I will just take it to the nearest auction house and flog it.!!

To run a dual fuel vehicle within the congestion Zone you register as such for £10 abd then pay no charges for a year. Google for "London Congestion Chrage" for full details. There is not a premium for such vehicles - it is a discount/exemption.

Jult to clarify, I am asking if there is a speciifc demand for duelfuel cars in London generated by the potential saving of up to £2k pa in congestion charges, to the point whereby the price of these vehicles carries a premium at the the auction house or on the forecourt that would not be reflected elsewhere.

Without doing any research i would of thought that advertising it in the South East Autotrader would probably get a higher price than one of the northern ones or by ebaying it and using the header to remind people its effectively exempt from the congestion charge and the fuel is a heck of a lot cheaper too.

The answer is No, Dual Fuel cars do not fetch a premium in the south east / commuter belt.

There was an article in Autocar 26 July page 41, regarding this topic, and they concluded proper factory conversions were selling at a premium of about 600 GBP.
