Picked up my new Berlingo on Monday, had been ordered at end of April. Got it for what I considered a very good price with Cit cashback of £1400, interest free credit and a very good dealer discount etc. Joe the salesman had kept in contact, let me know when it had left the factory, when they received it, when I could pick it up etc (complete with huge bunch of high quality flowers for my wife!). All went very smoothly and I was chuffed to death with it. Today my wife took a phone call from Darren the sales manager.
"You know you got cashback of £1400 on the Blingo? Well, the cashback offer has changed for May, and you car was delivered in May. We have just been credited on our account with £1900 cashback so there is a cheque for £500 in the post for you"
Now, I would never have looked up the cashbacks for this month, and even if I had I would just have said to myself that I should have waited another month to buy so I reckon this is pretty good of the dealer, especially since there is no way I could find out how much cashback they had been credited with - so all credit to them for being so honest and straight.

What a nice story, everytime i ring my citroen dealer even if its for a pinch bolt i always find the service first class too and with prompt delivery or i am told its special order and i can either have fast track (i pay the post)or 3 days if its a special part.I also rate the berlingo.

It's always good to hear when someone receives good service and reminds you that there are a few people in the motor trade who have some respect for the customers.

Have you thought about buying the salesman and sales manager a little something as a token of your thanks - it always goes down well and it would be well appreciated. It won't really cost you anything either as you'll still be well in credit from your extra cashback.

I've had a few gifts of customers and it's nice to receive something out of the blue - slab of beer, bottle of whiskey, box of chocs etc.

Also if you get the car serviced there regularly a little something to the technician can ensure they go the extra mile when doing stuff on the car.

and therein lies the slippery slope to "bakshish" without which you won't get service in arab or asian or african countries.

Actually you would have found out how much cashback you got - Citroen will send you a receipt for it shortly.

Q100,
Ah well, didn't realise that - but at least they were on the phone straight away and the cheque is on its way rather than me having to ring them about it (or them claiming an administative error by Citroen etc)
Nevertheless - still had v. good service from them with regard to sale and much better than the other dealer from whom I bought my previous Bling- told them in April (when I was there to pick up my car from service) that I would be buying a new one in a few weeks, could they quote me prices, deals, cashback etc but they were too busy to deal with it then, they would ring me with details - they never did and therefore lost a sale.
