Is this a fair price - Anthony Farrar
Having read these pages for some days now, I get a feel that there are many knowledgeable people out there so:

I have been offered an early L reg Renault Clio, with less than 11,000 miles (no typing error, eleven) on the clock. It has been serviced, garaged and driven gently for its whole life. It is a five door, 1.4 RN automatic. Taxed until June, just serviced and MOT'd. It has a small srape on a rear door and the front dam beneath the bumper is scored/scraped.

I Have been offered this car for £1350.00 is this a good deal?

The local Renault garage said that in perfect condition it wpould be worth £3000.

I know the history is true because the car belongs to my dad.

What do you think?

Bye for now.

Disregard what the Renault garage says it is worth. Talk is cheap! What is the amount they are prepared to pay for it? I doubt if they would want to stock it, probably too old.
Overall £1350 seems a bargain price especially if your 'PAPA' [excuse Renault Clio pun} offers you a warranty

11,000 miles in eight years implies to me a life of short runs from cold starts equivalent to at least 110,000 miles on a car run mostly on long trips on motorways. But it doesn't matter what I think. The public is still daft enough to place an excessive value on low mileage, so there is a chance you could get £1,500 plus for the car in the local paper.

i wouldnt buy it, as the engine has not been used properly, it will start to give you trouble soon.

Hey! Nothing wrong with buying a car with the equivalent of 110k!
Re: Is this a fair price - pete
Offer your Dad £1000,i'm one of those people who have no time for high milage cars or unusually small milage for the year, but if its had regular use there should be no problem

No way its worth 3k btw! There are better small cars out there and you wouldn't have to live with an an autobox clio.
