Can anyone tell me if when you remove the reversing switch from the gearbox if gear oil should leak out??
Its a five speed 1992 polo so the switch is at the front of the gear box.
Ive checked in the Hayes manual and it doesnt mention anything about the possibility of gear oil leaking out when the switch is removed.

Steve - you'd think it would be the sort of thing the nice men at Haynes would mention, but they dont.
Basically, the switch is below the oil level, and removing it does cause gearbox oil to drain, as I've pointed out here before !
All you can do is top it up again, which I seem to remember is not that easy.
