Trupart Failsafe Thermostat - Andrew
Can anyone comment on this which was/is supposed to be a thermostat which jams in the open position thereby saving head gasket blowouts. Is it still available and where?

Sorry Andrew, never heard of it, but your question has reminded me that the old bellows type is still in the syllabus for NVQ motor engineering, and I have never ever come across one in a vehicle, only in a college as a training aid to show students. Were they ever used in modern cars. I doubt it as they are influenced by pressure, and all modern systems are pressurised.
