Today - wet and misty dual carriagway bearing on me at a considrable rate of knots a Bently GT - I want one ! In the same way that I wanted an XJS when I was 14. Glad to see that a car can still float your boat after all these years.

On the original question I'm not a great car devotee but I always get a very special feeling when I see just about any Aston Martin and if I was going to buy a serious car it would be an AM.

A bit off topic, but my neighbour across the street has had a BMW 700 something for 12 years - registration WOW***.
Yesterday she got her new BMW518 delivered - she has kept the WOW*** number on the new car.
Funny to see them side by side with the same reg.

How can one lot of Germans (BMW) get it so wrong with the RR Phantom and another bunch (VAG) get it so right?
A few years ago the late historian, politician and car nut Alan Clark went to the Crewe works for a look-see before he bought his latest Continental T and wasn't impressed with the workforce, so lets hope the morale problems are sorted out and the product is as good as the wow!-factor.
Sadly, I've been a Bentley Continental nut since the 60s and lusted after almost every one from Olga (OLG 490, the prototype fastback of the early 50s) to the GT. Some say the current big Continental, the R or T, is an anachronism with nothing for the modern motoring world - but what a shape! When you see one or look at a picture you have to have someone standing by it to gauge the scale because the lines are so perfect it could be any size at all. Ah well, sigh, back to the bangernomics Honda...

Similar experience yesterday. Coming off Stony Stratford roundabout onto the Milton Keynes bypass a metallic blue sports car shot past, just in sight long enough to eyeball the makers badge VAUXHALL!!!. Looking at the car by car breakdown probably a VX220. Some goodlooking car.

The VX220 is virtually a Lotus Elise but with different clothes on, IIRC. And what clothes! It seems almost inconceivable that the saame company that made the MK1 Vectra can come up with something so drool-inducing as the VX220.
I want one!

My Auntie used to drive around in a Jenson Interceptor many moons ago when I was a pup. I used to drool over the thing and if given the chance I would buy one now as they still look the part.

Aston DB7 - a modern classic. Gorgeous then, gorgeous now - the rear light cluster is about the only detail that could possibly be improved on. Awareness of the Jax XJS origins of the chassis doesn't dampen my ardour one bit when seeing one. Buying an early example would of course be the height of financial folly, but what a car...

Also came across one yesterday in that rural wilderness known as Breams Buildings London EC4. Parked in a disabled bay by the Immigration Appeal Tribunal's premises. Agree with PU, awful, like a suzuki vitara on steroids.

My late uncle had one of the first Alfetta GTVs 2.0 - British Racing green. That was truely a car to behold.
OK not in the same class as the Bently, but still a good enthusiasts car. Much better looking with the chrome than those later versions with the plastic bumpers.
Due to ill health (kidney removal) he only covered 1000 miles in the first year, but had it for years after.
Sadly he had to sell it when he had a stroke, he never recovered.
