The Clio could do with an oil change, but it's not yet due a full service...
I'm mechanically inept so don't want to try it myself.
Looked in the list of Good Garages, but nothing in Halifax / Bradford - is it worth taking it along to a fast-fit outfit for this (I'm assuming) simple task?

Yes, but keep watch on them to make sure they use the right oil, change the filter and don't abuse your car. Always get Kwik Fit to do mine but there might be cheaper.
KF are £34 for Mobil 1 fully synth, £26 for Mobil Super S (presume that's a semi)or £18 for "great quality engine oil", see their webpage at www.kwik-fit.com/ and go to special offers.
Oh, and be ready for "your tyres are a little low sir" or "did you know your exhaust is rusty"

Check your local National Tyres Depot as they were running a Semi Synth off of £15.00 oil and filter change. Peter

Well, it's been done although they did try and charge me £20 when I got there. They can't help themselves!

Thats because the offer is supposed to be valid only on production of the voucher - I dont know whether a printed web-site voucher would be acceptable or not?

Er, not really. The voucher says it's £20, the website says £15 next to it. They were claiming that an email sent from their head office was advising the extra £££s.
I pointed out the website said (& says) otherwise, their lack of argument indicated to me that they were trying it on.

Lee - oops, sorry. I had printed off the voucher in December when it did agree with the wording on the web-site. It looks like they have put up the price but forgotten to update the web-page - which is not too uncommon. (On Saturday went to a D Tel ad for a holiday, clicked on the hol-company's "latest offers" page and found it to list August 2002 holidays!).

You should probably make sure they've got a torque wrench (not just a scaffold pole!!)for tightening the sump plug to only the specified torque.
