Farewell Holden - Engineer Andy

I prefer to see John (no-hold-barred) Cadogan's take (see his YouTube page). Rather a sad and damning indictment of GM and Ford. This feature, coming soon to the UK...

With hindsight, GM should have created an autonomous international division back in the 60/70s consisting of Opel, Vauxhall and Holden instead of repeated interference from Detroit in markets it didn't undertand - although given by their current lack of CUVs and acres of unsold Sedans in the States, you wonder it they understand that market either.

Guesses how long before that thread title becomes "Farewell Vauxhall"

Yep, the process has already started with the slashing of the workforce, ordered by the chiefs at PSA after the recent 'takeover'.

Vauxhall Ellesmere Port's survival depends on how far the European market in general switches away from hatchback/estates to crossovers as it's easier to keep Opel Gliwice in Poland at full capacity - the Astra's GM platform won't get used again by Opel/Vauxhall so major re-tooling at Ellesmere Port would be needed anyway.

Vauxhall Luton must be on borrowed time, building a PSA competitor's van - Renault.

It'll be interesting to see how PSA positions the 5 brands - Peugeot, Citroen, DS, Opel and Vauxhall.

Not being nasty but.......

From experience of Vauxhall, both as owner and as a hirer, where for example you have a reasonably top ranged Astra, you close the drivers door and the internal contents make a tinkling loose noise (and the other doors are not much better than an upgraded tin can) then the company going down the swanee will not be missed by me.

The glory days of Vauxhall are over, only the fleet hire companies are supporting and I don't give that much longer either.
