Looks like the auto industry is going to lose their shirts this year. Vw have already agreed to a 4.3 billion fine in a plea deal with the US regulator. Plus individual compensation deals. Then we have the rest of the world, from national governments, to individual cities, and owners demanding compensation.
In the end, the cost will be passed back to us, the public, in the form of higher prices, dealer gouging, increased and new taxes and depressed used values.
Cars will not become magically cleaner overnight, so many of us will find our cars being banned or milked when driving onto many cities in the future.
Then there is the health issue, are the EU, NHS etc going to claim? The tobacco gets way with murder, literally, will the auto industry too?
