  I have the original tyres all round,Turanza's,and the fronts are down to about 3mm,after 28,000 miles. I am thinking of replacing them with ER300's,same make,but would much appreciate any alternative suggestions,particularly any quieter tyres. Cheers....Phil.

  I had a small accident with a tree falling on my car and subsequently have a broken lens cover on the n/s door mirror indication unit. Will I have to replace the whole unit or can the window/lens be replaced. If replacing the whole door mirror is this a straightforward job?

  I was thinking of changing car next spring, but I?m having second thoughts after yesterday?s CAP report saying that prices have been rising. Are present values likely to hold, or could there be significant movement either way over the next 6 months? Current car is a 2005 Seat Altea TDi. Thanks.

  The 2010 British International Motor Show has been cancelled due to the global economic crisis, the organisers have announced. Organisers claim the event could return when the economy picks up, but that?s unlikely. The SMMT recently closed its exhibitions department and industry sources say now is a good time to bury an event that has been in terminal decline for years.

  I am thinking about buying an early 90's MX5 as a weekend toy (though might use it for commmuting to work sometimes). It will be garaged, be a 2nd car and only cover about 3000 miles a year, so will it quallify for classic car insurance ?

  Enquiring about the whole range of diesels - advised best not to buy any of them due to DPF`s and wifes ultra short journey use. Top marks for honesty from the sales guy - who consulted the service manager while I was on the phone. But what a choker for a desperate industry that needs to sell new cars or face going under.

  I'm looking for a s/h diesel, I see a lot of turbo versions and I'm giving them a miss as I have the idea that they are not as economical. Given the equivalent engine size and car is this correct? As far as I'm concerned the whole idea of owning a diesel is for economy bearing in mind that diesel fuel is about ten pence more per litre, a turbo might not be any cheaper to run than a petrol vehicle.

  call me old fashioned if you must, but there`s a growing number of drivers not bothering to indicate their intentions, especially at roundabouts. not so bad when i`m in my car, but when i`m in my lorry i can`t pull away sharpish when some clown leaves his right hand indicator on when exiting a roundabout.

  To settle a bet with regard to less enlightened times. My recollection concerning breath tests for alcohol whilst driving in the 1970's is that there was a sort of informal practise whereby they were not used for accidents that occurred in the morning as they might catch someone who had been drinking the night before and this was though unfair.

  Circumstances have forced me into buying a cheap car quickly. After splashing out £700 on a 'S' plate Fiat Marea Weekend HLX, fully-loaded, which looks and goes well. Apart from the hideous name, do they really deserve the bad write-up that HJ has given it?

  How will the route M40-M42-M6-M62 be, leaving Oxfordshire at about 6 pm on the BH Mon 26th May? is most of the traffic coming S, or will there be hordes making their way N on the M6 from a w/e in the W Country.

  My old cavvy needs a weld - the n/s sill, right at the back by the wheel arch. It may need new dampers. This for an MOT. I could fit the dampers, at least at the back - I've never done front ones for this model. Anu guesstimates as to cost?

  reason i asked a mate of mine is still driving around in his car ( taxed and insured) but the MOT has ran out and he thinks he,s ok , but i did warn him that he may be taking an awful gamble ...is he going to automatically get "nicked "when he passes a ANPR CAMERA ? thanks

  Just picked up a set of Vauxhall alloys off a late C Reg Nova GTE to put on our Corsa. They are fitted with 155/70 13R Dunlop SP9's and we need to know recommended tyre pressures for these. We have a Corsa manual but this size tyre is not listed. Thanks in advance!

  My 1999 (S Plate) Audi A3 1.8T is due for a service. Mileage is 70k. Can any recommend a good independent garage in the NW London area? As I'm near to the M1, somewhere in Watford or St Albans would also be an option.
