• Ford Mondeo - Engine slow to rev down 27 May 2014 (Forum)
  Hi my 04 plate Ford Mondeo Ghia automatic is having having rev problems. It starts ok and revs up, but is very slow in allowing the revs to decrease. It would seem the throttle cable is sticking, but I've checked this by hand - working the linkage and the it does go back to the stops, but the revs take their  time coming down to tick over.

  100 mile into a journey the warning came on. The car was recovered to a Ford Service garage who rectified the 'fault' with an engine management update. I was informed this should have been done on its 1st service.  The servicing garage denigh this.  Both garages were unable to tell me what went wrong.

  Hi, can anyone offer any advice on the reliability of the 2.0TDCI engine? I'm looking at buying a 2.0TDCI Focus 2009 with 54K and ford FSH, but seeing all the bad stories about the 1.6 has put me off a bit . Is the 2.0 TDCI likely to throw up the same issues as the 1.6 TDCI re: the DPF etc? I'm looking to keep it for a few years, and the last thing I want is a huge garage bill at 100K.

  Have a W reg ford puma 1.7, needs a new exhaust as cat is on way out. Has done 127k miles - still drives nicely apart from an occasionally holding back due to the cat. Anyway MOT and Tax both expire end of month, have been quoted £450 for a new exhaust to be fitted, is it worth getting fixed or should I sell or scrap??

  I am about to refil the DPF fluid on my ford focus myself, I'll worry about resetting the ECU later. I have searched extensively on T'internet for some photos showing the exact location of the tank and the exact position of the pipes I need to disconect and reconnect, as this would help with the pre planning phase of this work.

  Hi recent,y bought ford mondeo 2003 2.0 tdci 157000 miles, yrs m.o.t, drives well but funny rattling sound and lots of black smoke and if rev hard or fast glo light flashes and sometime it makes the car lose power completely..

  i asked a brakedown recovery mechanic on 22/04/13 when the best time to change the timing belt was, as ford recommend 100,000 miles or ten years. His reply was, he would recommend changing at around 80,000 miles, but he thought that all fiestas from 2002 onwards did not have a cambelt anymore, they were chain driven?

  I bought some servicing items from Ford to do a home service on my Fiesta. I got one of the new spark plugs out to see what size socket to use. It appeared to fit in a 16mm. When I went to use this on the one I was removing from the engine it was a loose fit and spun round the plug.

  My ford fiesta zetec is leakng alot of water. The leak seems to be coming from under the engine rather than the radiator at the front. I am having to fill up water every day. Do i need a new water pump and if so, is it a big job that will cost  a lot?

  Hi, I have a 4 year old ford focus 1.8 zetec, I get 36 mpg and do about 15,000 miles a year. Is it worth swapping it for a more economical diesel? I'm happy to spend upto 7k plus any part ex value. But ami better off keeping the money in the bank and living with the fuel cost?

  Hi all, I have a P reg ('97) Ford Fiesta and the driver side fore/aft seat adjuster (i.e. for sliding the seat forward and back to change driver position) is broken. It seems like the problem is simply a spring that has become detached , but I don't know how to access the mechanism in order to reattach it.

  Just bought a new Fiesta TDCI 1.6 95ps and it has a low down flat spot, ie if you let the car slow down in second gear to tickover and put your foot back on the gas the car holds back,also when changing from first to second gear the car jerks.Have Ford got a fix for this my car is booked in next week with the dealer

  Noticed that only half my HFS was working. Spoke to Ford for advice. Took off wipers and windscreen trim at base of screen. Saw the problem. The ribbon like electric connection was broken. Cannot be replaced as one end is bonded to the screen. Can anyone advise with a heath robinson way of connecting the two pieces of ribbon safely and able to make it work again.

  My 2001 Ford Modeo 2.0 TdDi runs well for 3 or 4 miles than stops. Leaving 10 minutes it them starts again. I have had the ggarade replace all filters etc and the car has been on the computer with nothing showing.

  weve got a new to us 54 1600 ford focus , when pulling up at junctions and lights the revs drop and it almost stalls , doesnt actulay stall but the revs dip lower than they should ive taken the idle valve off and it was clean , carb cleanered it anyway and no differant , also cleaned up a few scabby earth wires in the engine room any ideas or common faults i can try
