  • camper insurance 13 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I've done a little research and found that some companies look for engineers reports on the conversion before covering additionally the fact that it has been modified from factory spec may result in a 'Max Power' surcharge on the premium. Does anyone know of any companies which may specialise in cover for such vehicles. Many thanks 9000
  • coolant leak question - citroen xsara 19 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Had it bout 2 years now no real problems except the last few days noticed small pool of liquid in front of front wheel after use. Regularly check my levels every week my coolant is up to the max level at the mo. drips for about 5 min then stops could this be just overflow running off from the radiator or something else. First major thing i have noticed after nearly 2 yrs motoring. Def coolant cos of the colour
  • VW heater troubles 15 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Hi all! just a quick question! The cockpit blower in my VW passat only really works on max power, lev 4, when hot air billows out loudly. The general air flow is not too good from the driver and passenger dashboard blowers and i am aware that the pipes connecting the cooling and heating systems can get blocked or can at least decay over time.
  • Honda Prelude Import 10 Jan 2002 (Forum)
I have just acquired a 1993 Honda Prelude 2.2 VTEC Automatic which is a japanese import on L reg. The speedometer is marked up to 180 kmh max which works out as 111mph. I understand japanese cars (and motorbikes?) are restricted to this top speed. Is there a way of derestricting the Prelude? Fitting UK spec speedo will allow a theoretical 160mph maximum but there is probably a restrictor fitted somewhere.
  • Leasing Companies 30 May 2001 (Forum)
I got turned away by a tyre fitting company, with allegedly very quick fitters, because the wear bars were not quite flush. I measured the tread @ ~2mm max. Yet if it had been my own car with my own money I would have shelled out folding for new tyres before then, but I knew the leasing company were tight wads. Any suggestions for suitable strategies, like deliberately flat spotting tyres?

  • Suzuki SX4 S-Cross - Suzuki S Cross 1.6 DDiS Allgrip - conflicting dealership advise 6 Jan 2020 (Forum)
Hi I have recently purchased a used '14 plate Suzuki S Cross  with 30,500 miles on the clock and in very good condition. Some 5 - 6 weeks after I purchased it the front wheel arch trim on the offside of the vehicle has started to come away. The trim clip is broken and some (what looks like) silicon sealant has been squirted into the gap - presumably in an effort to re-attach it.

  • MINI Cooper S - 2014 Mini Cooper SD 17 Nov 2014 (Forum)
I've been searching every search engine and YouTube etc but can't find anything about the Cooper SD...it's all Cooper S reviews only. I've recently purchased one and collect it this week, I test drove both the Cooper S and SD but fell in love with the SD, granted it doesn't sound anything like the S but I enjoy lazy torque power and with the motorway driving I do it seemed perfect for me.

  • Jaguar S-Type - Jaguar S-Type - ownership nightmare? 17 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Hi all I've seen a Jag S-Type locally at a very tempting price - 51 reg with 131k on the clock, being offered by a dealer who I'm guessing probably doesn't want it on the forecourt and needs to get rid. It's the 3.0 V6 auto version.
  • Giving uninformed technical advice 13 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Dispiriting - the Tech`s are weary of `armchair experts` - now they too are challenged by the guy (s) who knows nothing technically - but who have found a soap box. Free speech? Sure. I`m not suggesting a `plonker` marker at the side of these posts - but you wonder if actual tech`s should have a means of identification.
  • The dangers of in car technology 31 Oct 2009 (Forum)
s most critical. The system puts the voice up at the driver?s level when road conditions are relatively safe, then drops it down to the driver?s feet when conditions are more hazardous.
  • What`s in your washer bottle? 25 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Or that catch all `fluid`.. Pink or blue? There generally has to be a colour of course to give `confidence` that it`s not plain water. Even though that leaves an opaque coating on the screen round the edge of the wiped area. I had a recent dream (time shift induced) that included the usual cream and red Triumph twin (last seen age 17yrs in the 60`s) but the main thrust was a guy telling me that cod liver oil kept the pipes soft.. the washer pipes that is.
  • Translucent red or toilet flush blue? screen wash 2 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Of course the colour in the mix doesn`t just de-materialise, it leaves a scum on the screen, outside the wipers arc. Given that this stuff is ready mixed. What`s the point? unless it`s form over function again? I know that if you try hard, the clear stuff can be found.. but its seemingly not popular. If its not ready mixed and its that nice little main dealer earner.. that`s different.
  • Milked at dawn - `bring it in at 8.30 sir`... 25 Feb 2009 (Forum)
That`s with me though and I`m reasonably technically minded........... At the service desk it`s obvious that 9 out of 10 people don`t have a clue and it`s more than being `milked at dawn` more like `raptors are go` I wonder if these places are nervous enough to play background music when huddled together planning their `recession survival strategies?
