    In a statement, the company said: "The Our Planet campaign will enable Land Rover to demonstrate its commitment to reducing its impact on the environment and improving the living conditions for the peoples and wildlife of our planet." Recent reports suggest that Ford is planning to sell Land Rover in the coming year. However, Phil Popham, managing director of Land Rover, told BBC Radio 5 Live's Wake Up to Money programme this week that the company has a strong business plan in the event of this happening.

    The car used in the hit BBC television show Life on Mars is to go on display at a vintage vehicle exhibition later this month. From November 9th to 11th, the Classic Motor Show will welcome the 1974 Ford Cortina driven by Sam Tyler and Gene Hunt in the show. And fans of the programme have collector Paul Sheddon from Darlaston to thank. The enthusiast, who paid £10,000 for the model, commented that he was looking forward to sharing the piece of television memorabilia with others.

  • New Volvo S40 To Be Launched at Frankfurt Show 26 Aug 2003 (News)
    Looking like a shorter S60, the new car will have a choice of five cylinder petrol engines including a 220bhp turbo as well as a four cylinder 136bhp diesel (presumably Ford’s 2.0TDCi, as used in the X Type Jaguar). The new car will be built at Ghent in Belgium. Production starts in late 2003 and UK deliveries begin in February 2004. The current S40 and V40 continue in production at the Born plant in Holland until mid 2004.

    Vauxhall has announced some details of its new Corsa C based 5-seater mini MPV, set to launch at this autumn's Paris motor show and go on sale early next year to rival Honda's Jazz and Ford's Fiesta Fusion. The three rear seats slide forwards individually or can be completely folded away similar to those of the Zafira, providing a flat floor. The Meriva is a compact 4,042mm (13ft 3in) long and will come with a range of diesel and petrol engine options from 1.6 to 1.8 litres with outputs of 75PS to 125PS.

    Joining a display of the BTCC MG cars, returning MG BTCC star Josh Cook will be heading to Silverstone on Saturday to meet fans. The three drivers will be at Silverstone to sign autographs and meet fans while MG Motor UK will be hosting a Q&A session with the drivers on Saturday afternoon. The first production aircraft lifted off from the Piedmont Triad International Airport (KGSO) at 10:18 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
