  • Fiat Barchetta rear brake imbalance 23 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Amongst other things - all pretty repairable, thank goodness - the tester reported an uneven braking performance from the rear brakes (newish discs and pads all round BTW). It´s been booked in to get this sorted prior to the retest, but I was wondering if anyone could give me a pointer as to what could have caused the problem just in case the garage try to pull a fast one, or something.
  • VW DSG 5 Apr 2006 (Forum)
This is a question to all the BR?s who have a VW Diesel with the DSG gearbox. I have a 2.0 GT TDI DSG on order for delivery in May (hopefully), the only thing I found strange about the gearbox was the ?T? handle gear stick. On the GTi or R32 the DSG has a nice rounded gear knob with the trigger at the front, the showroom couldn?
  • MEGUIARS Quik Clay - worth getting? 15 Mar 2006 (Forum)
As the Barchetta is up for a spring clean shortly I was thinking about what products to use. According to HJ´s recommendations I have Autoglym Super Resin and Extra Gloss protection that I plan to use, as soon as it warms up enough for the EGP to cure properly. Other posts have mentioned this Clay stuff, which is something I´ve not come across.
  • Toyota hi ace ignition key programming. 3 Mar 2006 (Forum)

  • Rover K series - 1400 29 Jan 2006 (Forum)
My main concern is that bargain or not, is that it has a K series engine. So my question is: Is the 1.4 K series OK and is it just the 1.8's that have the HGF problems? Or are they all rubbish? I've done a forum search, and noted the advice to check the coolant etc. TIA
  • Getting Spare Keys for Honda Civic 25 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Hi there, I recently bought a second hand Honda civic 1.4i S 2000 V model. I was given only one key with the car and a remote knob attached to the keyring. I was wondering how to get a second key for it? Can I just get the key cut by a key maker or do I need to go to the dealer?
  • Speeding (mostly excl cameras) Vol 36 1 Jan 2006 (Forum)
ve not seen one of those before. I was tempted to turn round and check my speedo at readings of 50 60 and 70 but I didn?t. If it?s still there tomorrow however .... P.S. The police aren't daft ~ it was fitted with a wheel-clamp! -- L\'escargot.
  • Golf TDi mk4... 8 Nov 2005 (Forum)
A friend is selling his S-reg, golf, 1.9 TDi SE, Mk4, 100,000 miles, 5 door, alloys etc. He said he was open to offers! Honest John said trade price was £2995 (at that mileage)... BUT... did i really want it, as the Mk4 have been known to be more than a little problematic!!
  • Battery Advice 27 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Is there a better solution than getting a jump-start off somebody? I once sold a car to a chap (having previously warned him the battery was u/s) and when he came to pick it up, he had a spare battery and jump lead with him which he used to start it (without touching the installed one). Is there any point carrying a spare battery like that?

  • K-Series and Kit Cars 15 Sep 2005 (Forum)
    I've just treated myself to a GTM K3. It's a fibreglass mid-engined 2-seater coupe which had the approval of SWMBO! It's only got a 1120cc K-series engine...
  • Merc cruise control 20 May 2005 (Forum)
I asked the dealer to check it over and they said this was due to the wrong tyres being fitted (205 55's on 16 inch rims) - these are the standard MB wheels and the tyres were fitted by an MB dealer! Before I take this up with Mercedes could anyone give me a guide as to what the problem may be - is there a sensor perhaps that's been left off?
  • Why did you chose your pseudonym? 3 May 2005 (Forum)
Can make some guesses: - Pugugly - you are or use used to drive one; perleman - presumably a big nosed humourist with initials S J? Anyone care to spill the beans or have a guess? E3 -- Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?
  • Saab Car Test Video 21 Mar 2005 (Forum)
I'm sure you've all seen the images of Saab 9000's slalom(ming) between cones in succession whilst being put through their paces. Well - I got emailed a link to a video made by Saab years ago and I have to say, it is absolutely amazing. The men driving those cars truly have a gift.
  • Volvo V70 2.0T 18 Mar 2005 (Forum)
A collegue has just been offered a V70 on a '04 plate with less than 10k on the clock from a main dealer in S spec with the 2.0T engine. This will be used as a company car. We have negotiated to £16,500 which to me seems a cracking deal. I am not familiar with the engine though. Anyone tried one that can give me feed-back?
  • Dim dip headlights 24 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I was thinking back the other day about the late 80's when dim-dip technology was introduced (preventing side light driving by switching on dipped beam at half voltage?). Does anyone know why this was discontinued? I have noticed many new cars driving around on tiny front side lights.
  • 'Naked' Street 9 Jan 2005 (Forum)
According to the programme, apparently those responsible for the concept feel the increased sense of awareness and vulnerability felt by road users and pedestrians (including the 10000's of tourists visiting nearby museums) alike may be beneficial in calming traffic and reducing congestion and so on. Yes, I've checked to see if it's April 1st but it isn't! :)
  • Mondeo brake problems 12 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Shoes and flexi-pipes changed, drums swapped, cylinders in good working order and of same bore, everything stripped, cleaned, greased where appropriate, entire system blead out and new fluid put in, but the result`s from 2 different test centres show no change.......does anyone know anything about the compensator valves on the master cylinder? and which one-if either-might be responsible?
  • Volvo S60 and depreciation 26 Oct 2004 (Forum)
I've been looking at used Volvo S60's. An approx. figure is between £13k and £14k for a 2002, 20T SE, Auto, with up to 20k on the clock. These cars retailed at about £23k when new, so a £10k drop in 2 years seems heavy, but does this bode well for a used car i.e. will the depreciation curve now slow?
