  • ford sierra abs 30 Jul 2004 (Forum)
The light now goes out on tickover but lights up as soon as I reach 40mph. Have had the ECU interrogated by a Ford dealer who couldnt find anything wrong after 1 hours work so they advised that the cost of finding the fault was more than the car is worth.I take their point but as I am in my early 70s dearly wish to retain the car.Can anyone suggest where the fault lies.I obviously do not want to go to the expense of a new ECU -that would be a bit OTT as the work so far has cost over £500.
  • Ford Transit Mini-bus 10 Jul 2004 (Forum)
After the fourth visit with this problem the local dealers decided to fit a new wiper motor, as they couldn't figure out what was causing the problem. Wiper motor fitted this week, hasn't cured the problem !! I have written to Fords customer care centre and i am awaiting a reply. Every time the vehicle has to visit the local dealers it costs me money, next thing which needs replacing is DMF (the engine is rattling and the workshop team leader said "thats the DMF, needs to be off the road a full day") Can anybody give me some tips on how to approach this problem, the bus has only done 48000 miles i dread to think whats coming next???
  • Ford Fiesta Encore 1.3L - over revving 15 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Hi all My missus has a Ford Fiesta Encore 1.3L (1998) that has been over-revving whilst depressing the clutch. This problem happens more often than not, occurring both during hard acceleration through the gears and braking from speed when approaching roundabouts.

  • Vauxhall Corsa E - Cleaning the throttle body 8 Feb 2025 (Forum)
We have a 2015 Corsa E with the 90bhp 1.4 petrol engine.  Tedious car but it costs us peanuts to run, and it has heated seats & steering wheel which seem to be very expensive extras on any new car these days.

  • Buying advice. 19 Jan 2024 (Forum)
I’ve looked on Mazda approved cars and would like to buy from them I but if I can get much more for my money would look else where…seen a couple of Mazda on there around 50k miles 2015-2016 for around £10k, does that sound reasonable? From my research think a petrol 1.6 sport nav is the one to go for? Any comments on any of this gratefully received as I know next to nothing about cars.

  • Advice about diesel Vs petrol please 11 Oct 2023 (Forum)
I’m wondering if I’m asking for trouble with a vehicle with a diesel DPF filter, but from what I can gather it’s a universal thing in vehicles built after about 2015. So it seems maybe I can’t avoid it? So, I’m thinking maybe a petrol vehicle may be better. But unfortunately all this is new to me, and I’m not sure what to do for the best? I drive about 120 miles per week.

  • Honda CR-V - Does new shock absorbers increase the driving comf 26 Sep 2022 (Forum)
My current driving experience in this car is like driving a pick-up truck (driving is stiff / firm, lots of under the car noise, little like driving a tractor ), but CR-V is also a family car. I had a few test drives of newer models (2015-2017) and the driving experience was much better in term of comfort, noise, softness. I'm guessing my CR-V in 2009 and few years later had also this comfort but with the age it's lose it somewhere, so I just wondering what is going to happen with that car.

  • Mazda 2 - clutch judder - return car? 29 May 2022 (Forum)
Hi - this is on a Mazda2, just bought from Cazoo, 2015 90ps manual 44k miles 1 owner FSH and apparently in pretty good nick... ...apart from when I pull away forwards from my parking space, which is on a significant incline. I haven't done this too many times yet, but most of the times I have, there's a brief but significant judder before the clutch fully engages.
  • Parted with money 9 Jan 2022 (Forum)
Swmbo was angling for a new model Volvo XC60 at £25k upwards but after a bit of effort I managed to find a cheaper option that satisfied her need to lord it over others on the road. I bought an approved used 2015 Volvo XC60 D5 auto with all the toys, 44,000 miles, a full Volvo history and in spotless condition inside and out. After negotiation the price wasn’t too bad compared to others nearby at £14,700 but this one had a years Volvo warranty included.
