  • Dealing with the aftermath of a slight prang. 31 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Looked round and an ancient Corsa is buried in the back of a not quite so ancient Punto. Both car drivers had been leaving the doctors. Wait at my car to see the aftermath - I hadn't actually seen the accident, but hung around anyway. Young guy steps out of Corsa, elderly female steps out of Punto.
  • Traffic cops related question 11 Nov 2006 (Forum)
After watching traffic cops the other night where the young girl was killed got me thinking about if there was anything she could have done to improve her situation. At the end of the day regardless of who was at fault and why, the young girl still lost her life.
  • Honda Jazz - Insurance claim - is this really our fault? 28 Jul 2013 (Forum)
The road at this point is bendy, and is a 40mph zone despite being in the countryside.  There is a bend to the left of the junction, which gives drivers on the A-road initial visibility of the junction between 300 and 400 feet away (depending on vegetation growth), and similarly gave my wife a view of at least 300 feet of the road. She checked the road was clear in both directions, and pulled out, only to be hit from the rear by a young driver travelling left-to-right on the A-road.
  • Tire maintenance 19 May 2021 (Forum)
Hi guys, I am a new car owner, and relatively young driver. I have some (admittedly basic) car maintenance questions 1) I've noticed in some cases when my hand is not on the steering wheel (at low speed and empty roads), it would turn on its own a small amount.
  • Any - Snow time 21 Jan 2013 (Forum)
This morning I helped push one car driven by a young woman (I think) over the brow.  It never ceases to surprise me that people don't bother to clear the snow from their car windows before setting out.  Don't they want to see sideways ?
  • Citroen Xsara (1997 - 2004) - Insurance for under 25s? 20 May 2008 (Forum)
I'll be doing 6k/yr in miles when I start my new job, however dropping to 6k miles makes about ~£10 of difference, so might as well keep it to the 12k mileage. Any suggestions for insurance companies to check for young drivers?
  • Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - Difference: 2.0 hdi 90bhp and 1.6 hdi 110bhp 31 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I myself drive a 1.4 petrol 206 with 75bhp so I'm trying to find out which one is best suited to myself...a young driver
  • Car as home extension 22 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Walking past neighbour's 5 door Fiesta, it seemed full (literally, every seat except driver's) of carrier bags, clothes, towels, covers, toys and other baby 'equipment'. She is a busy young mum, of course, and we laughed later when I suggested she effectively drove a wardrobe on wheels. Yes, she agreed, "and you could call it an extension of my bathroom, kids room .. in fact, the whole house!"
  • Which is the better car out of the two options? 15 Apr 2023 (Forum)
I am looking to keep this car for a good 6 to 7 years so want something reliable. FYI: I am 29 about to be 30 soon, so I’m not a young driver and had my license for 18 months going on two years soon. In addition, not only am I in a high paying job, I will be installing a Thatcham car alarm and GPS tracker and getting a ghost immobiliser to reduce insurance premiums.

  • Got my own back! 25 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet?" interspersed with kicking the back of the drivers seat, wiping sticky fingers on the window, wiping a snotty nose on the window and licking it, demanding to stop for a wee then not doing one down the drain hole and within 10 minutes of getting back in the car, this bit deleted as not within the context of the BR - DD , spilling ribena out of my non spill mug on the upholstery, screaming at a pitch that makes her eardrum throb, projectile vomiting down the back of the drivers seat.
  • Such olde worlde charm 29 Jul 2005 (Forum)
Ten miles or so further on the traffic came to a halt and when it started moving, imagine our dismay to find that the cause of the hold up was our newly found young friends. The Corsa and the Golf had come into contact with each other, the central reservation or both. Thankfully the drivers did not appear to be hurt but we were very concerned that this would have delayed thier journey not to mention increased insurance premiums.
  • Inferiority Complex 13 Oct 2004 (Forum)
One mile later they gave me a toot on their horn, not a "you idiot" toot, more of a "hiya" toot. Anyway, got to next junction to find they pulled up alongside me - a beaten up wreck with 4 young lads wearing baseball caps inside, radio blaring out and tinted windows. They seemed to have an obsession with my car. Got home, checked my car and then discovered that from outside my car looked just like theirs, black inside and out makes it looks like I have dark tinted windows ..... combined with the standard rear spoiler and Lexus style rear lights it look just like a young lads car.
  • Deathwish kiddies. 22 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Hi all, There have been a couple of recent threads on cars hitting young kids which l glazed over not wishing to get too involved lest l pulled back a bloody stump. (Feelings run high on these issues quite rightly). In Norwich, especially in the immediate suburbs there appears to an increasing trend of bored young kids ranging from angry 8's to furious 14's to taunt and obstruct cars that are already going slowly due to the kids presence.
  • Wheel fell off Cont 28 Dec 2019 (Forum)
Other drivers had reported the vehicle as being faulty and many refused to take the vehicle out, but this young lad was KEEN to get experience and did what no one else would do and drove it. Safety is a serious thing for all drivers, this could easily have been you in your car.
  • Pedestrians - annoying the traffic 24 May 2009 (Forum)
He then dallied back across the road , again oblivious as to traffic and causing a driver to slam on his brakes (the man walked in front of his car) - to which he responded by pressing his body against the car and bringing his fist down as if to smash the window (which he did not actually do).
  • Peace Route Ypres Salient by Cycle 21 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I hope not. However, the main point of my post is to hi-light the sympatico relationship between car drivers and cyclists. That also is a marvel to behold, unlike the constant battle in UK between unreasonably aggressive cyclists and car drivers. No one cut me up, no one gave me the finger nor the five knuckle shuffle, no one hooted at me.
  • pulled out in front of me, now im being prosecuted 2 Mar 2015 (Forum)
i was travelling along a A road at 60mph and a young lad pulled out in front of me and i slammed on the brakes and still hit him.   a couple of months later i have been given the option of going on a motoring course or being prosecuted with Driving without due care and attention or: driving without resonable consideration for other road users.

  • Renault Clio 1.2 n reg. wet engine 27 Nov 2006 (Forum)
I left it ten minutes and it eventually started. I am reluctant to let him drive it this weather as he is a young recently qualified driver. Anyone know if the engine should have a splash panel or the like to prevent this happening. Is there anything I can do to prevent this. I know in my old mini I used to tie a piece of plastic to the inside of the grille.
