Two Chinese auto companies have agreed to provide long term funding, but in the short- and mid-term the company has run out of money. The reorganisation will be overseen by an independent official, and involves improving the efficiency of all the construction processes, with the aim of reducing lead times. Saab aims to have a new, cost effective business plan in place by the start of 2012, but whether it will be enough to save the troubled company in the long run remains to be seen. -
Lack of charging points holds back electric vehicles 9 May 2011 (News)
Only a tenth of planned electric vehicle charging stations are up and running, according to a BBC report. According to the story only 407 of the planned 4,700 charging stations planned for 2011 are operational, with delays blamed on difficulties in laying cables. Additionally, two-thirds of towns with a population of over 150,000 have no charging infrastructure whatsoever. -

Bracket racing places emphasis on the consistency of the driver and car rather than on raw speed, which in turn makes victory much less dependent on large infusions of money, and more dependent on mechanical and driving skill, such as reaction times, shifting abilities, and ability to control the car. In each qualifying session you predict the time your car will run, the dial-in time. So, for example racer 'A' dials 15sec and racer 'B' dials 13sec. If racer 'A' runs 15.1 and racer 'B' runs 13.2 then racer 'A' qualifies higher because he/she was closer to their dial-in. -

Currently, Porsche Classic has 52,000 parts in its catalogue. If stocks run low, Porsche can reproduce an item using the original tooling, but this is expensive so runs have to be kept to common or in demand parts. -
Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: Updated Santa Fe breaks cover 15 Sep 2015 (News)
Hyundai has confirmed a raft of updates for the Santa Fe at the Frankfurt Motor Show . The revised crossover gets new exterior styling, more safety kit and lower running costs. The Santa Fe retains its 2.2-litre CRDi diesel engine, but the four-cylinder diesel has been re-tuned to develop 200PS and 440Nm of torque, while running costs have been lowered with CO2 emissions of 149g/km and economy of 49mpg. -

More than 220 historic and vintage cars took part in this year’s CCVC Classic Car Fun Run. The event, organised by the Charity Classic Vehicle Club for Drive It Day, covered almost 50 miles and attracted everything from Packards to Porsches. Report: Peking to Paris, day 15 11 Jun 2013 (News)
Tony and Lee Strelzow in the Bentley drophead, currently 13th in the Vintageants, had another puncture today, and were helped by local truck-drivers as their jack is proving to be useless, and is now running new springs, adapted from a military Jeep, after an all-night session in a workshop in Novosibirsk. They are running slowly as the front brakes are not working properly, and there appears to be no reason why. -
BMW 116d Beats 100mpg on Futurecar Run 5 Nov 2012 (News)
A BMW 116dED, rated at 99g/km CO2, achieved 103mpg on the 64 mile Brighton to London Futurecar run on ordinary sometimes congested roads on Saturday 3rd November. The route from Brighton to London included many miles of uphill section and busy London traffic, but event organisers measured the fuel used over the challenging route recording a 39 per cent improvement over the official 74.3mpg combined economy figure. -

Classic Fords set to raise money for children’s charity 19 Aug 2016 (News)
Classic Fords will be out in force this weekend to raise money for charity. The North Wales Classic Fords Snowdonia Run takes place 20-21 August and raises money for a children’s hospice. The event, which is now in its seventh year, sees 100 Fords take on the 100-mile route. Cars already booked in include Escorts, Cortinas, Capris and even a Mustang. -
