Cash incentives 'available now'

Thu, 23 Apr 2009
Motorists keen to trade in their old banger for a brand new model may not have to wait until May to be offered a cash incentive it has been revealed.

Citroen reminded drivers it is already running a scheme similar to the vehicle incentive programme unveiled by the government yesterday.

It explained anyone who trades in a model that was registered before the end of 1999 can swap it for £2,000 if they order a new car from the manufacturer by April 30th.

Although the scheme announced by Alistair Darling will not be available until next month, Citroen pointed out its initiative is already up and running.

Managing director Xavier Duchemin said: "Car buyers don’t have to wait for the government, they can benefit from our £2,000 incentive right now."

Earlier this month, Citroen announced the Nemo Multispace had arrived in showrooms, describing it as compact, versatile, eco-friendly and practical.
